I prepared this return yesterday & my clients were rushing like “I gotta file before the deadline.” 😫🙌. Yes, get your returns filed on time; however, if you have a refund coming … you can file all year. The deadline is to avoid penalties for failing to file on time for those that owe balances over $1k that failed to make estimated payments into the IRS. If you’re getting a refund, you are safe. Don’t panic. Gather all your documents. Take your time and do it right. I’m filing returns all year. (For those that are confused, AGI is not their refund… it’s their adjusted gross income)

Education is key. Putting off submitting your tax return does not delay collection of the bills, it doesn’t prevent penalties for not paying by the deadline and it doesn’t stop interest! It just costs you more penalties you could have avoided by simply filing on time or extending!!!

If you need to claim a 2022 refund, today is the last day to submit it or you forfeit those refunds! If you are late filing and owe a balance of over $1k, today is the last day to submit your tax return or an extension and avoid the failure to file on time penalty. So if you prepared that tax return or had it preparer and were told you owe over $1k, file it now anyway. Waiting will cost you way more!
