Detroit does have a lot of spirit in many different ways. Did you know that in 1805, Detroit had a massive fire where only one building made it through? And so the Latin motto on the Detroit flag is Speramus Meliora and Resurget Cineribus. Which means "We hope for better things" and "It will rise from the ashes". Which is always applicable to our lives, but even more pertinent today.

DET shirts are made from 100% recycled fibers and are very comfortable. Our recycled shirts reflect our mindset that the world is always in a re-cycle, from growth, death, and back to birth again. Detroit is currently being recycled to become new again, and we have the opportunity to create an amazing city. We’re already amazing and I am so proud to live here!

JUNETEENTH!
-
Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States.

Major General Gordon Granger, landed at Galveston, Texas with news that the war had ended and that the enslaved were now free. Two and a half years after President Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation.

Juneteenth today, celebrates African American freedom and achievement, while encouraging continuous self-development and respect for all cultures. As it takes on a more national, symbolic and even global perspective.

Happy Juneteenth!
