Spend a summer sailing in the mountains on beautiful Lake Dillon. Camps and private lessons run weekly throughout the summer, Mon - Fri. Ages 8-17!

The Dillon Yacht Club Junior Sailing Program was started in 2005 with only 3 boats and goal of promoting and growing junior sailing in the mountains. Happy sandbar day! Today, JSP sailors and instructors challenged themselves with an adventure sail. On top of that, we celebrated a great week by enjoying lunch in a sandbar!

Congratulations to our second instructor of the week, AJ!
AJ is a first-year instructor and has sailed for a number of years. Primarily a Melges 24 sailor, he enjoys the speed and thrill that racing presents.
AJ hopes to develop his knowledge on racing this summer and he has done a great job during his second season as an employee!

Congratulations to our first instructor of the week, Joss!
Joss is a second-year instructor and is also a Summit County local! He has been sailing for his entire life. He enjoys skiing and racing sailboats.
Last weekend, he sailed his M20 into first place at the Aspen Open Regatta! He hopes to develop his leadership skills and learn more about seamanship and nomenclature.

Congratulations to our instructor of the week, Camryn!
Camryn is a Chemical Engineering major at Colorado School of Mines and is pursuing a minor in Explosives and Public Affairs. She has been sailing for quite some time now and one of her goals is to expand her knowledge of sailing more by the end of the summer. She always can help boost your mood and your outlook on many things, especially sailing!
To be the instructor of the week, instructors must demonstrate excellent leadership and teaching skills and lead by example. Congrats, Cam!

Overall program administration including scheduling, registration for sailing camps, hiring & management of instructors, budget management, and management for facilities & boats.
Serves as spokesperson for the DYCJSP. The Program Director and DYCJSP Board are accountable for the program’s activities and operations.

Provide sailing instruction to all levels of classes offered by DYC Junior Sailing under leadership of the Program Director & Senior Instructor
Qualifications
• Minimum 16 years of age
• Advanced sailing experience in most weather conditions
• Boaters safety license
• Ability to drive a power boat according to DYCJSP guidelines
• Knowledge of the rules of sailing
• Ability to work with groups of children, ages 8-17
• Ability to sail in both dinghy & keelboat type sailboats with students
• CPR & First Aid certification preferred
• US Sailing Small Boat Level 1 Instructor certification preferred
Responsibilities
Teaching
• Assist in preparing sailboats and equipment prior to the start of each class
• Assist Director & Senior Instructor on and off the water
• Sail with and for all levels of sailors when needed
• Follow the teaching guidelines for each level. Utilize information provided by US Sailing
• Maintain a positive attitude with students
Safety
• Ensure safety guidelines are followed at all times
• Know where First Aid kit is located and ensure it is maintained
• Make sure all students are wearing a lifejacket when on the dock and boats
• Follow the rules of the Dillon Marina and DYCJSP
Other
• Assist in setting buoys for classes and races
• Know all students by name
• Assist with light maintenance of boats and equipment
• Assist in cleaning clubhouse at the end of each day of class
• Refer questions or issues to Senior Instructor
