Another Adams County Rodeo is in the books in Council, Idaho.

DF Development was proud to support this year’s event and the many people who put in the work to make rodeo weekend happen. It’s always good to see the community come together for something that has been part of Adams County for so many years.

25 years later, and still, we will never forget.

Today, we remember those we lost, the brave first responders, and the families whose lives were forever changed on September 11, 2001.

It can be hard to stand on raw acreage and picture what living there could become.

That’s one reason DF Development is building a luxury off-grid cabin at Legacy Creek Ranch. The roughly 1,000-square-foot, one-bedroom home was designed and is being constructed by Euclid Timber Frames, with its own well, solar power, and a structure built around independent living in this setting.

The build itself is just as interesting as the finished cabin. Euclid is using an ICLT solid-wood system with beetle-kill lodgepole pine harvested from the National Forest, turning timber that once posed a wildfire risk into the walls, floors, and roof of the home.

From clearing the site and setting the foundation to raising the structure and finishing the interior, we’re documenting the process so buyers can see how a blank piece of land begins to take shape.

More than anything, this build is helping show what’s possible at Legacy Creek Ranch when the land, the design, and the construction all work together.

Check back to see how this cabin build comes together!

Our cabin build is taking shape with forms, beams, and concrete now defining the footprint. This is where the blueprints start to become something real on the ground.

Building on mountain terrain takes precision. The measurements, elevations, and placement established here will support a roughly 1,000-square-foot home designed to operate independently with its own solar power, private well, and septic system.

For anyone considering Legacy Creek Ranch as a future retreat, second home, or long-term family property, this is what we want the cabin to show: raw acreage can become a fully functioning homesite without giving up the privacy and setting you came here for in the first place.

And what eventually sits on this foundation will be very different from a standard production cabin.

When fun weekends spent at “the property” are your thing, or you have a vision for the land but aren’t ready to move there full-time, there’s land in Idaho that fits those exact needs.

Maybe it starts as a place to hunt, camp, ride, or get away for the weekend. A few years down the road, there may be a cabin there. Eventually, it could be the place your kids bring their own families back to.

You don’t have to know exactly what the next 20 years look like to find land that gives your family room to grow into it.

Aerial photos are useful. They just don’t tell the whole story.

Walk the property and suddenly the slope feels different, the views change depending on where you stand, and areas that looked similar from above can feel completely different on the ground.

There’s a reason we encourage buyers to come see the land in person.

There’s a lot of work behind the land you see around Idaho. Forestry crews, road and excavation teams, surveyors, contractors, brokers, local tradespeople, and plenty of others put in the hours to maintain it, improve it, and keep things moving.

This Labor Day, we’re thankful for all of them, including the people on our own team who are out there doing the work every day.

We find that, when it comes to buying large tracts of beautiful wilderness, some buyers are looking for more space for their family. They want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, but they don't want to do without the conveniences or proximity to some of those major services. Privacy, space, and a slower pace of life call to them...but so does the opportunity to run into town for groceries or to take the kids to school.

Horsethief Ridge is just the right fit. Located 8 miles east of Cascade, with just 4 exclusive homesites, this is where your family will want to put down roots. Tracts range from 10 to 23+/- acres, with deer and bald eagles as your closest neighbors.

Our team would love to show you what life at Horsethief Ridge could look like. For more information and to schedule a tour, head to our site: https://dfdevelopmentllc.com/communities/horsethief-ridge/

Summer may be winding down, but there’s still plenty happening around Valley County. We've assembled a calendar that is packed with local events, community gatherings, and a few good reasons to get out and enjoy the last stretch of summer.

We love living here, and part of that is supporting the events and people that make this community what it is. Take a look at the calendar, and if you see something we missed, let us know in the comments. We’ll get it added so everyone can find it.
