The D-Town Throwdown

Truly unbelievable... the meltdown has happened and the Tigers are not in 1st place for the first time since April. 15 game lead... 15 GAME LEAD. How that even happens baffles me. It has been just disheartening to watch them the last 2 weeks. What happened to the joy and fire they were playing with? Yea we have had some injuries but the hitters are the same. A.J. Hinch needs to DO SOMETHING before this epic meltdown goes into the record books. They still control their fate technically but have got to shake this off somehow, someway... I know the Tigers fans out there are just heartbroken tonight and shaking their heads in disbelief and frustration. We still believe in you boys, LETS GOOOO!!!

Wow, Tarik Skubal just continues to get better if that is even possible. His complete game shutout today vs. rival Cleveland put him in a category all his own. He is the ONLY MLB pitcher ever to throw a complete game shutout with 13+ K's and under 100 pitches. A complete game in today's era is practically unheard of but when you can do it while averaging under 10 pitches an inning it makes it pretty easy for your manager to leave you in. But to add on 13 strikeouts is just incredible. Even if all 13 were 3 pitch K's thats 39 pitches alone. Skubal is the best pitcher in baseball hands down and I don't think its even close right now with what he is doing every 5 days. Truly fun to watch and even more fun because he is a Tiger! Another victory and another series won! The young Tiggies continue to get it done and are slowly pulling ahead in the A.L. Central which is easily the best division in the MLB currently. The entire squad has fully bought into what A.J. Hinch and the rest of the Detroit management is trying to accomplish and it's truly exciting to watch. The boys are headed to St. Louis next for a 3-game series before coming back home for a big rivalry holiday weekend series with Cleveland. The tribe is currently in 3rd place and 5.5 games back in the Division so a series win would really pay off. St. Louis is 5 games over .500 and playing solid ball so it will be an exciting series with a long-time historic rival. Being the best team in baseball has Detroit buzzing and the clubhouse is electric everyday. Tune in this week and catch the Tigs fever, as always LETS GO TIGERS!!

WOWWWW!!! What an incredible game last night!! Javy Baez officially finished winning back the fans after that game. Not 1, but TWO 3-run bombs including an extra-inning, walk-off, no doubter in the bottom of the 11th. These guys have zero quit in them and that was clearly evident Tuesday night. After giving up a 2-run lead in the 8th they came back to tie it in the 10th and then down 2 in the 11th scrapped their way to getting 2 men on which allowed for Javy to absolutely CRUSH a ball to deep left sending everyone home happy. There is something special about this young group of men and it has been truly exciting to witness thus far. Don't miss today's series finale as Skubal takes the mound and the Tigs look to sweep Boston. Detroit has scored an insane 24 runs in the first 2 games of the series so look forward to some offense and lots of run support for the best pitcher in baseball. 6:40 first pitch and as always, LETS GO TIGERS!!

It was a rough weekend, Texas got great pitching from their starters and managed to keep our bats mostly quiet. However, the season so far has been exciting to say the least and the job they have done building through the draft and farm system is really showing through. The front office should be in buy mode come the trade deadline and by building from within they have one of the lowest overall roster salaries of in any team in baseball which will allow them to make a couple splash deals if they chose to do so. We still have a couple players coming back from injury as well making the future very bright in Detroit. The boys will shake off this weekend and get back on the winning side of things this upcoming week. They just got done with a brutal road trip going through 4 time zones so there was bound to be a little jet lag as well. Coach Hinch will have them ready to go as usual LETS GO TIGERS!!!

Tarik Skubal is on a different level these days. He went 5 perfect innings in his last start and continues to be the best pitcher in baseball. This stat is absurd and just proves what all us Tigers fans already know, Skubal is simply the man.

The streak is over!! The Pistons hung on Monday night in a rowdy Madison Square Garden to end the longest playoff win drought in the NBA and even up their opening round series with the Knicks at 1-1. Leading virtually the entire game, Detroit's youth showed up some as they allowed N.Y. to tie things up under 2 minutes but were able to hit a clutch 3 and withstand the late push to get the huge victory. The Pistons are the 1st team in NBA history to get 3x the wins they had in the previous season and after breaking the playoff slump has made the turnaround a complete one. The series will head back to the D now with what promises to be a VERY LOUD and eager crowd behind them to cheer on Deeeeettroiitttt Baaaaskkkketballll!! The series just got exciting and Game 3 is on Thursday night so be sure to tune in and as always, LETS GO PISTONS!!!

Chalk up another victory for the good guys! Despite an attempt at some 9th inning heroics by K.C. the Tigs held on for their 12th win of the season and 2nd in a row. They continue to dominate at home improving to 7-1 at Comerica in the early going. Their 12-8 overall record is top 3 for starts to a season in the last 40 years and has them firmly in 1st place in the A.L. Central. Riley Greene put together hits in back-to-back games after his 0-30 streak ended Thursday night and Tork continues to tear the cover off the ball collecting a couple more ribs. It's an exciting time to be a Tigers fan especially considering the success they are having while still missing several key players including Parker Meadows, Matt Vierling, Wencell Perez, Jake Rogers, Manny Margot, Alex Lange, and new signee Alex Cobb. As those players return the lineup and pitching staff are going to become impressively deep. The current success also allows those players to get fully healthy and not feel pressured to rush back in order to help the team. It's shaping up to be a fun summer of Detroit baseball which continues against K.C. today at 1:10 E.T. Tune in and cheer on the boys and as always, LETS GO TIGERS!!!

The Tig's got back to winning Friday night holding on to down Central rival Minnesota 7-6. The win improves their record to 8-5 and puts them into 1st place alone for now in the Division. The bats continued to produce with 10 hits and the 7 runs including scoring 4 clutch innings in a row from the 5th to the 8th continuing there tendency to do damage the 3rd time through the lineup and in the latter innings. Reese Olson struggled to get out of the 5th but the bullpen held the Twins to just 2 runs and closed out the win. The bottom half of the lineup produced all 7 runs which is awesome to see that the team was able to produce even without some of their key hitters contributing. Detroit will look to get another win streak going with an afternoon game Saturday as young Jackson Jobe will look to get his 1st career win facing Chris Paddack who's ERA thus far is an ugly 14.73 and will hopefully provide for an opportunity to jump out ahead early.
