My sweet 5 year-old lab mix, Ramsey, was recently diagnosed with congestive heart failure and dilate We moved to Durham, NC when he was a year old.

I adopted Ramsey from the Kentucky Humane Society when he was 3 months old in February of 2010. He was just a wee thing, with a pot belly and big brown eyes. Ramsey's favorite things are hiking, eating carrots, swimming, walking on the American To***co Trail, seeing his friends, and being with his mama. Although he's hiked all around North Carolina and Kentucky, his favorite place is Eno River Sta

The data from Ramsey's heart monitor vest revealed that he still has highly concerning ventricular arrhythmia. The cardiologist has increased his medicine, and we go back to the vet on Friday to get another heart monitor vest. If this increase in dosage of current medication doesn't work, we will try a new medicine. Definitely not the news I wanted, but we are staying positive.

I struggle between keeping Ramsey healthy and keeping Ramsey happy. Exploring, walking, hiking, running... All of these put stress on Ramsey's heart, but are also things that he loves.

Jonathan Swift said, "May you live all the days of your life." After a week of little to no activity, we are getting back to living. Enjoy these photos of Ramsey back on the trails.

Ramsey received some care packages in the mail this week from loved ones in Kentucky, North Carolina and South Carolina! He LOVED looking in the boxes and loved even more what he found inside! Thanks Fuller & Stack families, Sara, and Grandma!

Finally home from the hospital! Ramsey had a few chest x-rays done and an EKG. The x-rays showed that there is still fluid in his lungs, so his doc adjusted his meds. His EKG looked pretty normal, but because of his dangerous arrhythmia they wanted to monitor his heart for the next 24 hours. So...

Check out Ramsey's new heart monitor vest!

Ramsey is on 9 medications which he takes at 5 different times throughout the day. Thanks to Allison Riggs for helping me sort through that! His appetite isn't great so we are going back to the cardiologist on Friday to check out his tummy and also make sure that he is responding well to the medicine. Currently he will only eat McDonald's hamburgers and nuggets, carrots, and pumpkin!

We are having a sleepover with Aunt Sheebs tonight, and she is spending the day with Ramsey tomorrow! Yay for super duper awesome friends!
