Hi all. It’s been awhile since we last posted, but we have still been working closely with the city to bring this skatepark to life. Since our last public meeting, we received not so good news that our potential skatepark site had contaminated soil. We revisited other site options and truly believe a skatepark at Millside would be our best option. Why not just put the skatepark back in it’s original place, right? We met with the mill owners and organizer of millpond live, as they would be affected by this location, and they all agreed it would bring life to the area- allowing more opportunity for lighting, power, working bathrooms and seating. However, the parks and rec department needs a little more convincing. I am asking everyone who is in support of the skatepark to come show your support at the next parks and rec meeting on 6/15 @ 5:30pm. ‼️IMPORTANT‼️ we need volunteers to state a park at millside is the best location during the public speak at the beginning of the meeting. If you have never been to a meeting like this, the department will ask for people of the public to speak RIGHT at the beginning. Please spread the word. P&R will try to persuade you to consider other options like nonotuck park and the plot of land by tasty top, but we have done our homework and already know these aren’t adequate locations at all.
