Safeguarding and growing the future of Mountain Biking in MN
www.morcmtb.org

Minnesota Off-Road Cyclists (MORC) is a non-profit volunteer organization that partners with area land managers to enhance mountain biking in Minnesota for ALL riders. We do this by building and maintaining mountain biking trails year-round, advocating for more trails, and educating community members on the benefits of responsible riding.

Three Rivers staff are exploring the potential for a singletrack mountain bike trail within Hyland-Bush-Anderson Lakes Park Reserve. The vision is to provide a high-quality riding experience in a first-ring community, supporting the growing interest in mountain biking, while continuing to protect the high-quality natural resources within the Park Reserve.

Three Rivers staff evaluated the potential for a singletrack trail at Hyland and have concluded that a high-quality, destination mountain bike trail could be developed in the park. A general location for the trail has been identified; however, no trail design has taken place.

Before any design work takes place, we want to hear from you! You're invited to attend an open house about the proposed singletrack trail on Monday, February 9, at Richardson Nature Center from 6โ€“8 p.m. We've also developed a short survey for the proposed trail and we invite you to visit the project page to learn more, take the survey and share your comments. letstalkthreerivers.org/hyland-singletrack-trail

Some fresh snowfall on the trails only improved grip, trails are still riding very fast. You would have to look hard to try to find ice on the trails, no need for studs. This has been a common theme this winter, Bertram has been one of the best places in the state to ride if you are trying to avoid icy trails. That said, since the trails are riding fast, use caution in the corners since you are still riding in snow! Low psi in the tires will help greatly with this - high pressure will have you sliding around a bit. Overall fantastic conditions, get out to Bertram for a ride!

Yesterday evening we held our first monthly board meeting of 2026. Here are a few of the things we discussed:

๐Ÿ”นWe approved the 2026 budget. Lots of exciting trail projects in the works, including transitioning two of our local jump lines to all-weather trail tread.๐Ÿค˜

๐Ÿ”นFor those of you who ordered a MORC jersey from our Podiumwear storefront last month: We've experienced a delay in production and expect these to ship in a couple of weeks.๐Ÿ™

๐Ÿ”นWe started planning for a fun social event and group ride later this year.๐Ÿ‘€

Stay tuned for more on all of this. In the meantime, we hope you'll consider getting involved or, if you're not already, becoming a member of MORC to help us make these plans a reality.

Until next time,
Jason Tufty

This past year, we guinea-pigged a new membership fulfillment system that included various swag items at different membership levels to incentivize folks to join MORC. It was a big jump for us, as we had never tried something like this before. And we totally cased it.

We sincerely apologize to all those whose membership orders were delayed or incorrect, and we appreciate the grace and patience you showed as we worked to address the issues.

Here's what you can expect going forward: Starting January 1, 2026, we are returning to a simplified membership system. Instead of partially going toward swag, 100% of your membership dollars will go toward gaining and maintaining trails.

If you aren't already a MORC member, we hope you'll make this the year you SEND IT and join our ranks. Your support as a member is critical to our mission of gaining and maintaining trailsโ€”in 2026 and beyond.

To learn more and join, head to our website (click on "Membership" in nav menu): https://www.morcmtb.org
