**FOUNDATIONS FIRST đż | The 4 Macro Minerals**
Calcium. Magnesium. Sodium. Potassium.
These are four of the first minerals Iâm paying attention to when I look at an HTMA.
But hereâs whatâs important:
**I donât only look at them individually.**
Iâm not simply looking for whatâs âhighâ so we can lower it or whatâs âlowâ so we can supplement it.
Minerals work together.
They interact. They influence one another. And their relationships can give us additional context about the overall mineral pattern weâre seeing.
For example, sodium by itself gives me informationâbut whether itâs high or low, what potassium is doing alongside it, and how it relates to magnesium can give me a much bigger picture of the stress patterns Iâm seeing on an HTMA.
Thatâs why Iâm looking at both the individual minerals AND how certain minerals relate to one another.
Four of the relationships I pay particular attention to are:
**Ca/Mg ⢠Ca/K ⢠Na/Mg ⢠Na/K**
And thatâs where weâre headed next. đ
Iâm going to walk you through these four ratios, what they mean within the HTMA framework I use, and why they can sometimes give us additional context beyond looking at one mineral by itself.
Because when it comes to minerals...
**More isnât always better.**
**Low doesnât always mean âtake more.â**
**And one number never tells the whole story. đż**
