We’re excited to share that Purcell is a new race venue for this season!!! We’re stoked to host a trail workday to help maintain and improve the trails that support our student-athletes and our growing OK NICA community.

⏰ Schedule & Details
• Date: Saturday, January 10
• Work: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
•Address:1400 Chandler Rd Purcell, OK 73080
• OK NICA will provide some tools
• Additional tools welcomed: rakes, shovels, and loppers
• Group ride after lunch 🤙🏻

🛠️ What we’ll be doing:
• Trail maintenance & cleanup
• General trail improvements

👥 Who can help:
Coaches, student-athletes, parents, and volunteers — no trail experience required.

🧤 What to bring:
• Lunch
• Gloves
• Eye protection
• Water
• Sturdy shoes or boots

Giving back to our race venues is a huge part of what makes OK NICA special. Every hour helps keep our trails safe, fun, and ready for race day.

Racing season might be over but there's still work to be done on the OMBA trails. A great way to help your local trail crews is to simply join OMBA. Annual memberships start at $39 and anyone who joins between now and December 15 will be entered into a drawing for a new Trek Mountain bike from Al's Bicycles - Edmond.

Senior Spotlight: Abby Manion – Edmond Team

From her early days in elementary school pedaling around the neighborhood to racing singletrack as a Conway Bearcat, Abby has always brought heart, courage, and kindness to every ride. She joined NICA in 6th grade and quickly found not just a sport, but a community, one that’s been shaped by her empathy, encouragement, and leadership ever since.

Now, as she heads to college, she’s already planning to give back by coaching NICA wherever she lands, proof that her love for this league runs deep. Her lifelong goal? To become a Medical Doctor, continuing her mission of helping others both on and off the bike.

When she’s not riding, you’ll find her in the world of theater arts, singing, reading, tutoring math (from middle school to calculus!), or collecting vinyl records while jamming out to Taylor Swift. 🎶

And funny enough, when she was little, she swore she’d grow up to be a real-life princess. Turns out, she made that happen… just with a bike helmet instead of a crown 👑🚴‍♀️

From racing the NICA trails of Arkansas and Georgia to inspiring teammates through her compassion and grit in OK NICA, she’s the definition of what it means to “ride for more than yourself.”
