We have been asked several times about the Rodeo taking place in Ellijay on Labor Day Weekend, so I need to make a public announcement to let everyone know what is going on.

Last year was the first year that we put on the Ellijay Stampede Pro Rodeo. It was an outstanding event! As a matter of fact, we were invited to the Southern Professional Rodeo Association Finals in Philadelphia, MS to be presented on stage with an award for the Ellijay Stampede Pro Rodeo being one of the top 3 new rodeos of the year.

We were excited to keep this event going, but sadly, Twisted Horn Rodeo Company, will NOT be the stock contractor putting on the event this year. Instead, it will be operated by the group that did it the year before us, which did not have a great reputation among the spectators (if you were there, I’m sure you will agree). Some members of the Gilmer County Saddle Club even told me that this Contractor would never be back out there. So long story short, the Gilmer County Saddle Club consists of a very small group of individuals. The club has been on life support for the last several years. This other contractor slipped in, joined the Gilmer County Saddle Club, had is family and a few others join……which automatically lead them to become the “majority”. Low and behold, a vote was held and guess who “the majority” voted to put the Rodeo on??? Themselves and NOT Twisted Horn Rodeo Company. Pretty dirty and underhanded if you ask us. We don't operate that way. We are not going to join Saddle Clubs to force our way into a venue. Our reputation speaks for itself and we don't feel we need to do that.

Guys, I’m sorry that we will not be returning this year. We are working on another venue in Ellijay, GA so that we can bring another award winning, high quality, Ellijay Stampede Pro Rodeo back to you guys in the near future! If you know of a potential venue, send us a Private Message and let’s discuss. Nothing is in stone as of yet. All we really need is a field that has plenty of room for parking for our awesome fans and spectators.

We’ll provide you with all the equipment that will be needed (including safety gear) and we will match you up with livestock that we feel would be a good fit for your level (and nothing that will turn back and eat you when you exit!).
