3-3. And LCCC should be proud.

The Commodores went toe-to-toe with Tri-C and earned a hard-fought 3-3 draw in the rain.

Just weeks ago, this same matchup ended with an 89th-minute loss. This time, LCCC stood its ground, battled for 90 minutes and walked away with a result.

That’s progress.

That’s pride.

And that’s the new LCCC men’s soccer program.

We want to build a team that represents Lorain County and makes students, alumni, faculty and the entire LCCC community proud to wear the Commodore crest.

3-3.

Earlier this year, Tri-C had LCCC on the wrong end of a 2-1 result with an 89th-minute winner.

On a wet Monday in Elyria, the Commodores answered.

Led by freshman Kaiden Vonya and a remodeled attacking group, LCCC Men’s Soccer battled Tri-C to a 3-3 draw — another hard-fought match that went all the way to the final minute.

And when you look at the bigger picture, the change is hard to miss.

Just one season ago, LCCC lost to Tri-C 13-0.

Now, two meetings later, the Commodores have turned those matchups into two battles decided in the final minutes.

That’s more than a scoreline. It’s a culture change.

More players are looking at LCCC for next season. More people are talking about Commodore soccer. And what started as a rebuild is quickly becoming a program people around Ohio — and beyond — are starting to notice.

The new LCCC has arrived.

And we’re just getting started.

3-3. I didn’t hear no bell.

The rematch was even closer than the original.

After Tri-C stole a 89th-minute winner from us in the first meeting, the rain-soaked Commodores held off another comeback tonight to earn a 3-3 draw.

Freshman Kaiden Vonya led the way with a brace and PK specialist Ethan Morris coming up big as the Commodores put THREE on the board against the Cuyahoga Community College group.

And guess what?

We’re doing it again in October.

Who wants another round?

The men are back at it Monday at 4:30 PM at Tri-C — and apparently we decided we needed a rematch sooner rather than later.

Last week didn’t go our way against Lakeland, but the new-look LCCC squad is already showing plenty of fight. Recent enrollee and Spire FC product Gabe Aluko opened the scoring for Lorain County with an absolute banger.

Now it’s Round 2 with Tri-C.

Just 10 days ago, Tri-C snuck in a goal in the 89th minute to steal a 2-1 victory. We haven’t forgotten.

New game. New opportunity. Same fight.

Monday. 4:30 PM. Tri-C.

Let’s see what happens when the clock gets to 89 this time.

LCCC men’s and women’s soccer are hitting prime time tonight on Spectrum News!

Soccer is on the rise, and Lorain County is right in the middle of it.

From the youngest players kicking a ball around local fields, to high school standouts, to LCCC men’s and women’s soccer, to the next level of the game — the talent, the passion and the opportunity are all growing right here in Lorain County.

This isn’t just soccer happening here.

It’s becoming part of who we are.

Soccer County USA is getting noticed. And tonight, Lorain County gets the spotlight.

Well… today is the rematch.

Come down to the fields on Abbe Road at 5 PM and see what the new LCCC looks like.

It won’t be 9-2.

Different team.
Different mentality.

The work has been happening.

The LCCC men’s and women’s soccer teams are here at ForeFront Field for the Leviathan U.S. Open Cup match against Akron City FC, and LCCC assistant coaches are on the sideline working with the Leviathan coaching staff.
