TSVA is remembering our late emeritus president, Charlotte Phillips. She passed last week. Ruth Cade, another long time member and officer passed the week before. We lost Jane Cauchon earlier this year. These are the stalwarts who blazed the trails in Vt and NH. We will go on, but we will never be the same.

Visiting Wethersfield and Hartford CT

I enjoyed doing the seasonal walk in Franconia today. It was a great day to be walking in the woods. I chose to do the 2.4-mile hike through the Flume Gorge, paying admission. I thought it was worth it. It's helpful to wear shoes with a good grip, although the trail is well groomed, the hard packed dirt can be just a little slippery. Don't forget to carry water and bring your trekking poles. The Franconia seasonal has options of easy walking on the bike paths in the park as well.

While the Stowe year-round walk lost two ice cream parlors last year (Depot St. and Stowe Scoops), there is now a new one in town. Stowe Sweets, at 109 Main St. So you can use it for your ice-cream parlor stamp if needed.

June 9, 10, 11, three walks, three days. Preconvention walks in Portsmouth NH, Danvers MA, and Springfield MA. Like the biggest tristate we've ever had! You don't have to attend the convention to come to these. Look at AVA.org or the local clubs web pages.
