It is with a heavy heart that I post the passing one of the pillars of our area’s wrestling community. Anna Caro was a founding member of EYWC in 1972 among many other great accomplishments in her life.

I am sharing her obituary, if you would like to celebrate her life at any of the services listed. The viewing is tomorrow at Glunt Funeral Home from 2-7 and the funeral service is Friday at 10.

As we wrap up another incredible season with the Edinboro Youth Wrestling Club, we take time not only to celebrate wins and growth on the mat, but to recognize the character that defines our program.
Tonight, we present one of the most meaningful honors of our season — the Caro Character Award.
This award is named in honor of the Caro family, who were part of the founding of our club and have remained dedicated to this youth program for decades. Their commitment has never been just about takedowns, trophies, or tournament brackets. The Caro family believes in wrestling for something bigger — for the community it builds, the relationships it strengthens, and the values it teaches young athletes that carry far beyond the mat.
The Caro Character Award recognizes one wrestler who represents those values every single day.
This is the athlete who gives their best effort in the practice room — even when no one is watching. The wrestler who approaches the sport with integrity, who competes hard but fair, who listens to coaches, respects opponents, and carries themselves with pride. This is someone who brings a positive attitude into the room and lifts up their teammates — encouraging them during drills, supporting them in matches, and contributing to the culture that makes this club special.
At Edinboro Youth Wrestling Club, our mission is to positively contribute to the General McLane wrestling family by encouraging all wrestlers. This award reflects that mission. It celebrates not just athletic performance, but heart. Not just ability, but attitude. Not just individual success, but commitment to the team.
The wrestler we honor tonight embodies what it means to be part of something bigger than themselves. They remind us that character is built in the small moments — in tough practices, in helping a teammate up, in choosing to work hard when it would be easier not to.
On behalf of our coaches and the entire club, it is my privilege to present this year’s Caro Character Award.
The recipient of the 2025-26 Caro Character Award is Bradley Cummings.
