❤️I see this practice of relating on two levels: how are we relating to our body and its process with TRE® & Yoga? And how am I relating to others, both within and outside of the group?

🤔At the first level, we are beginning to cultivate increased awareness of our internal and more subtle body experiences. So how do we care for ourselves in this process? I invite you to continually return to the questions,

🥰“What is right for me at this moment?” “What discerning choices can I make moment to moment for my own healing, recovery, and well being?”

🔶Within the container of the group is the space and encouragement to go at your own pace. So you can develop self trust and take the right actions for you.

😀At the second level, connectedness is a biological imperative. Neuroscience teaches us that we are wired to be in relationships, in community. Healing happens in community. And humans, that’s us, learn our most robust regulation skills from other regulated nervous systems! We’ll explore our own real time experience in the online group, as well as identify ways to find connections with other regulated humans in your sphere to enhance your capacity to feel at ease and comforted in the presence of others.

“Tension Release Exercise.”

🤕I don’t know about you, but that sounds nice to me right now! The weather, the boss, the pain, the politics, the, the, the list goes on. I notice more tender tight areas in my body, my hamstrings, my jaw, my upper back. These are moving, low grade and manageable. But there was a time when I had such chronic recurring neck stiffness and pain, I couldn’t turn my head for days at a time, and migraines liked to join along for the ride. Ouchy.

😮I remember the day I was so overwhelmed by the pain that I laid down to invite my body to find the way– to allow my breath and my TRE® practice to do its work. In that surrender my head began turning side to side, with some speed, and…no…pain!!! Wow.

🤯The mind/body connection became instantly real to me. I couldn’t consciously turn my head to the right without pain, but my body could! Mind. Blown!!!

❓Regulate? What do you mean by that?

🚘Ever find yourself driving along, singing to the radio perhaps, or enjoying the scenery…enjoying your drive, when suddenly someone cuts you off and you blow up into some choice words, maybe some finger or fist pointing?

🤬You are steamed; hot; agitated. How long do you stay that way? A minute? A mile? An hour? Half a day? Are you still telling the story at the end of the day?

🕕Holding onto the angst and agitation of a small traffic incident all day (or longer, I know, I’ve done it!) is what I would call not regulated. Not able to settle and let go of and release the incident and its effect, not only on your mind (all that thinking and storytelling), but also your body–remember that heat? Angst? Agitation? Tension?

😤Without some regulation skills, the events of our day and our conditioned reactions to them can take us over. Even if we have strong mindfulness skills, those aren’t integrated until you address it at the body level. We have to take the time to integrate both together to gain the the ease we desire. The ability to go with the flow of life, rather than being swept away in the waves of circumstance.

🤲Join us for this small group, IN PERSON, practice experience! Did you know that in the small group you get more individual attention? With the small practice group I can check in with participant’s to identify common threads of experience and adapt my offering to YOUR NEEDS!

🧘‍♂️For example, your TRE® pattern might be big and energetic but you’d like to use it for sleep or settling. In the small practice group I can offer you specific practices and interventions like use of props (cushions, yoga belts, small balls, etc.), hands on assistance from myself as desired, as well as self interventions...things you can do to change, move, or slow your pattern so you can move towards your desired outcome!

😟I had a client who had suffered several years of insomnia. I felt for them, I had a very similar experience myself a few years ago. This person had tried everything: herbs; naturopathic support; medication; therapy; acupuncture; chiropractic care; and massage. Still, no sleep. After their third TRE® session they slept that night through.

😁Night time is no longer a regular stressful event

..and the only sleepless night since was situational, because life happens!
I’m not saying the other strategies used didn’t support or contribute to TRE®’s effect, I’m sure much of it did. But this person has been able to come off all sleep medications and cut back on therapeutic appointments. Surely there has been a synergistic effect. I like to think that was the missing key to unlocking their body’s ability to settle and sleep again.

😴When we suffer from insomnia our body’s resources get tapped. The stress of nighttime amps up our anxiety and this cycle feeds sleeplessness. TRE® helps the body learn how to slow down and settle. When we can create the conditions for the nervous system to unwind from its highly activated state we can access sleep states again.

🥱Yoga practices, like yoga nidra, or yogic sleep, have been shown to increase relaxation, a sense of peace, sleep quality...

..self regulation, self awareness, self efficacy and reduce anger/rage, anxiety, and emotional reactivity. Combining TRE® and Yoga Nidra in my regular daily practice resolved my own insomnia!

Yoga & TRE® Workshop!

I had a client who did 12 private sessions of TRE® with me for a variety of challenges. One of them was four years of chronic low back pain. She had sustained an injury to her back picking up a heavy barbell years ago and after several rounds of treatment with physical therapy, chiropractic care, massage therapy, MRI’s, and rolfing she found some intermittent relief, but nothing that lasted longer than a week or two.

After our first four sessions of TRE® her back pain disappeared.

We finished her twelve sessions in about sixteen weeks and her pain has not come back! The TRE® movements (shakes, tremors, pulsations, vibrations) arise first in the inner thighs and then pelvis. Particularly in your psoas muscle. This is your “tenderloin” and it connects you both top to bottom and front to back. The psoas starts at your inner thigh and wraps deep into your pelvis, attaching to the joints of your low back (lumbar vertebrae to thoracic twelve) and when it’s tight or tense it pulls on your low back. This is a pathway for how TRE® can have a powerful effect, and in this case quickly, for relieving low back pain.

The yoga postures we explore in TRE® & Yoga also prepare the psoas through targeted stretching and breathing practices. Since your breathing muscle, your diaphragm, shares connections with your psoas through your fascia (connective tissue), breathing practices powerfully enhance this effect.

Combined, the TRE® & Yoga practice calms your nervous system which “turns down the dial” on your pain experience!

Most of us carry some tension on the tops of our shoulders, as if we are “carrying the weight of the world.” I know several women who are recovering from frozen shoulder, a long and arduous recovery. I myself had years of chronic neck stiffness and spasms following meningitis. Many of us suffer from tension headaches, stiff low backs, hamstrings, and for as many women I know with frozen shoulders, I know just as many men with achilles injuries?!

When our connective tissue, or fascia, becomes dehydrated, stiff, and tight, those areas of the body become more prone to injury and pain.

Your joints need regular movement to receive adequate blood flow and nutrition for good health. TRE® is one way to create more suppleness in your body through your fascial system. The TRE® movements travel along these fascial lines that wrap and encapsulate lines of muscles and even your organs!
