The Umpqua Fishery Enhancement Derby was a huge success, bringing together community, conservation, and a love for fishing! This year’s event kicked off with an unforgettable Kids Day at Cooper Creek Reservoir, where 75 local 5th graders learned about water safety, fishing, and the importance of protecting our fisheries. Every child received a lifejacket from North River Boats, and with the help of Willie Boats guides, they got to experience the thrill of fishing firsthand! To top it all off, the kids took an exciting North River jet boat ride, leaving them with smiles, new skills, and a lasting appreciation for the great outdoors. 🚤 The excitement carried through the entire weekend, including the fishing derby, where local businesses fished alongside local guides. This fundraiser plays a vital role in fisheries enhancement efforts, directly contributing to bringing the hatchery back and ensuring a bright future for our local fish populations. 🎣 The weekend wrapped up with the Umpqua Fishery Enhancement Derby banquet, which was a tremendous success—selling out with over 740 attendees! It was amazing to see the energy in the room, especially during the auction for the Willie Boat, which sold for an incredible $35,000! We’re honored to have played a part in raising funds to support healthy fisheries and inspire future generations of anglers.
