Another little throwback! It has dawned on me that fighting is something I love so much! Training, putting in the hard work, and competing. I also love to share the little knowledge I have with others. This is who I called “LITTLE ONE!”
One of my students who was like a silent ninja! He never really would talk; his skills spoke louder than words. He is now all grown up! 😭 Jake is someone who was always willing to learn, improve, and was a natural! From teaching him to do cartwheels on both sides to throwing kicks and punches to grappling nonstop, photos like this make me want to give coaching and teaching one more go 🫣

Without my friends and family texteing me about these videos, I don’t think I would’ve continued but a great friend messaged me and it just made me open my eyes to see that there are people watching me, lol I LOVE IT (also it’s so scary 😂😭) 😂😂

I will share a little about me! A few years ago I opened my own martial arts gym. It was called Onca Preta MMA (in Portuguese) translated to Black Jaguar MMA. Before that, I coached at another gym and at the Ferndale School District. I coached kids, adults, privates, and did personal training/coaching to MANY students! I have now seen them all GROW up! 🥹❤️
Avery is one I can recall from the very start. My favorite quote from him when he was little was “COACH D! I wanted to share that my feet smell like broccoli 🥦!” I was like “DUDE! What in the world?! Wash your feet and shower!” 😂
SO many kids would “call me out” and it was NONSTOP rolling and battling them! As a coach and athlete, my goal is to teach them everything but also watch them develop the skills that work for THEM! I will give out as many tools from my tool box and they can pick what tools work for them. Today, Avery is CRUSHING IT IN WRESTLING! Seeing him use martial arts and growing is what makes my time as a coach worth it. 🥹
To all my students who are now TEENAGERS 🤯 I love you all and I’m VERY grateful and blessed to have shared the SMALL amount of knowledge. Keep chasing those dreams! Coach D is watching and cheering you all on! ❤️
