𝗟𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗳𝗮𝗹𝗹, when I asked my son 𝗘𝗻𝘇𝗼 about his goals for the school year, one of them surprised me: “I want to hike a mountain.”

This weekend, alongside his friends and their moms, we set out to make that happen. At 4 a.m., we began our ascent, and 8 hours later, we had summited two of Colorado’s tallest mountains — Grays Peak (14,270 ft, #10) and Torreys Peak (14,267 ft, #11). ⛰️

What struck me most wasn’t just the physical accomplishment, but the 𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗽𝗵𝗼𝗿 it carried. Too many of us stay at “base camp” in our lives — comfortable, safe, familiar. But fulfillment comes when we decide to climb, step by step, toward our 𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘀 — our goals, our dreams, our highest potential.

Watching these young men push through challenge, support one another, and light up with pride reminded me: the summit is never just about the mountain. It’s about courage, resilience, and the decision to go beyond comfort.

To Enzo, his friends, and my fellow moms: 𝗜 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱𝗻’𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗿 of what we achieved together. ❤️

The Olympic Games is a time that we all look forward to. We all, independent of nationality, race, or religious affiliation. It is a time that those who worked so hard for so many years have a chance to represent their country with pride.

Growing up in Brazil, we did not have a TV in our house until I was a bit older, but we still found a way to watch the games, even if for a bit at someone’s house or at a bar close by.

While we hardly had athletes representing Brazil, it did not matter. I not only cheered for fellow Brazilians, but I did even more for the American athletes; after all, they represented the country I would live in someday.

To have Dr. Finnoff, Chief Medical Director of the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee, take time out of his very demanding schedule to not read a few pages of my book 𝙊𝙣𝙚 𝘿𝙚𝙘𝙞𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝘼𝙬𝙖𝙮 but in its entirety was one of those symbolic moments I will never forget like coming into this country and watching the Olympic Games growing up.

⚠️ Not asking for help can be a costly mistake—both professionally and personally. It’s time to break the cycle and embrace the power of seeking assistance.
