Just a few of the benefits of Oncology yoga
03/31/2026
Welcome to Sisu Yoga!
My name is Amanda Wilkinson. I am a cancer survivor and a certified Yoga 4 Cancer instructor. My yoga journey began in 2014 when I attended my first yoga class in Fargo. I fell in love and was a dedicated student until my breast cancer diagnosis in the fall of 2018.
Yoga helped me so much throughout my surgeries and recovery that I jumped at the chance to get my RYT200 in 2020. I currently teach hot yoga, yinyasa and Yin classes at MojoFit Studios in Fargo.
Remembering my frustration with the lack of resources for post treatment recovery, I could not pass up the opportunity to get my Oncology yoga certification in 2025. I knew there must be active recovery options to help lesson side effects, helping to improve quality of life. I am passionate about helping others navigate this difficult journey through mindful movements and breathwork.
Yoga 4 Cancer’s mission is to see yoga prescribed and available to all those touched by cancer. Research shows that active exercise during recovery is critical and has become a key focus for survivorship. Cancer is not always the hardest part; secondary side effects can be harder to alleviate and can last well into survivorship.
The Yoga 4 Cancer research-based program combines safe and effective movements that build strength, improve range of motion, reduce fatigue, and boost immunity. Cancer is an individual experience, and everyone comes to the mat at a different point on their journey. You will be met where you are and guided to movements that are most beneficial to you. These sessions also encourage community connection through shared experiences and provide emotional support.
Looking forward to meeting you!
I am often asked, "What is Oncology yoga and how is it different from traditional yoga class?"
Oncology Yoga is an evidence informed yoga method tailored to address the specific physical and emotional needs left by the cancer and cancer treatments. It is a comprehensive yoga practice designed to mitigate the short and long term side-effects and achieve long term health. Adaptable to all stages and cancer types.
