A couple of weeks ago, we had the opportunity to surprise Dr. Kate Cook with the annual Doctor of Service Award!
Due to her busy schedule and only being in Fargo for the class she taught this spring, we celebrated her in the very place she serves alongside friends, colleagues, and students.
In her short time at NDSU, Dr. Cook made a lasting impact on both the campus and community. This recognition was incredibly well deserved, and it was so special to celebrate her and everything she has contributed.

Congratulations to our former board member Kate Cook for receiving the Blue Key Honor Society - NDSU Chapter Doctor of Service Award! Current board President Jim Nagle, Executive Director Shannon Bock and Community Engagement and Advancement Director Alita Hanson attended the surprise ceremony where Kate received the award. Jim and Shannon also wrote letters of support when Kate was nominated. Thank you for being a champion for CCRI as part of our board, Kate, and good luck in Iowa! We will miss you!

Congratulations to Dr. Charlette Moe, our Associate Professor of Music and Assistant Director of Choral Activities, for receiving the 2025 Blue Key Distinguished Educator Award! Blue Key created this award in 1969 to honor an outstanding educator at NDSU for going above and beyond to mentor students. Dr. Moe joined the NDSU music faculty in 2008 and will retire this spring. Bravo on this well-deserved recognition, Dr. Moe!
Fun fact: Our choral professors emeriti Dr. Jo Ann Miller and Dr. Michael Weber received the Distinguished Educator Award in 1997 and 2006, respectively. 🤘

Over MLK weekend, we were fortunate enough to have a few members visit Clemson University in South Carolina to attend the Blue Key Honor Society National Convention.
NDSU was 1 of 11 chapters from around the country to attend, and we had a great time networking and learning about the history and traditions of other Blue Key chapters. The Tigers were very welcoming, and put on a conference with interesting break out sessions, an informative tour of Clemson campus, and opportunities to connect with other BK folks from all around!
Kaley Quam, our chapter President, won the national award for presidential greatest! She keeps our chapter committed to the value of “Serving I Live” and we couldn’t be more proud of her 💙💛

This morning we had a great breakfast with President Cook and Dr. Kate Cook! It’s always a pleasure to have them join us.
Shoutout to our favorite waitress Staci! She’s always so supportive and greets us with a big smile.
