Night 2 of the KKM Giveback Challenge Series at US 24 Speedway🏁

Saturday was a lot of wrenching… 🔧

After Friday night’s wreck in the Restricted, the rear frame and front axle were damaged. The guys spent the day replacing the axle, working on the body, and getting it as race-ready as they could.

Garrett headed out for his heat to find the engine also wasn’t running right. He pulled off and didn’t start the feature. 😩

Jr Sprint
Heat: 3rd → 4th
Feature: 6th → 5th

The JR also kept them busy, putting the engine back together after tech and cleaning things up. We weren’t quite there on gear setup or driving during the feature, making it tough to move forward in a competitive field.

Not the results we wanted, but it was some quality time with Grandpa, Dad and Garrett as he continues to learn to the cars. 🔧🏁

Night one of the KKM Giveback Challenge Series at US 24 Speedway 🏁

JR Sprint: 🥇 1st
Another stacked field with 17 drivers.

Heat: 6th → 1st 🏁
Feature: 1st 🏆

Garrett did a great job dialing in his line early and keeping his momentum rolling. He also set quick time for the night. 💨

Restricted:
Heat: 7th → 7th
Feature: 14th → DNF

The Restricted had another rough night with a spin that resulted in contact with another car and a tow back to the pits. They’ll be busy in the pits today working to get it ready for tonight. 🔧

One down, one to go. Championship Night is on deck at US 24 Speedway🏁🔥

Well… that one stung. 💔🏁

Doe Run Raceway | KKM Giveback Challenge Series

JR Sprint
Heat: 4th → 1st 🏁
Feature: 1st → DNF

The JR Sprint class was stacked with talented local and traveling drivers. Garrett came ready, he won his heat and set quick time in the heats.

In the feature, Garrett was leading and starting to pull away when a red flag came out. When he went to restart, the car wouldn’t start. 😢😩 The battery had zero voltage.

Restricted Micro
Heat: 9th → 3rd
Feature: 2nd → DNF

Garrett had a good heat race and started 2nd in the feature. On lap two, with a little help from behind, Garrett went over the berm, which dismounted his chain. Another trip to the infield and another DNF.

That was a tough night of racing. 🥺
We’re headed to a Savannah Bananas game to end summer before we’re back to school Monday. Good luck to all of the KKM drivers tonight at Southern Illinois Raceway! You will find us in the shop this week…🔧

Garrett Mohrfeld 10-year-old racer from southeast Iowa. In 2026, he made the jump from outlaw karts to his first season in both the Jr. Sprint and Restricted Micro divisions.

• 2026 Hoosier Dirt Cup Jr. Sprint Champion after sweeping all six nights of competition, winning every feature and leading all 90 feature laps throughout the week.
• Two-time NOW600 Jr. Sprint Feature Winner at Macon Speedway, capturing Friday and Saturday night victories while setting Quick Time each night.
• Rookie season in both Jr. Sprint and Restricted Micro after advancing from outlaw kart racing

🏁 Port City Raceway Victory! 🏁

First weekend to Port City, and Garrett parked it in Victory Lane Saturday! 🏆

He was on rails all night, laying down quick time again in the heats and features and running a great line from start to finish.

JR Sprint
🏁 Heat: 1st ➡️ 1st
🏁 Feature: 3rd ➡️ 🥇 1st

In Restricted Garrett made good progress in the heat but fell back in the feature. With a few laps to go, he tried the high side and built some confidence racing in heavy traffic.

🏁 Feature: 4th ➡️ 10th

One small clip with another car and Garrett found himself looking at the sky. 🚀

Thankfully, he was completely okay, the boys put the car back together, and the weekend only got better from there. 🔥
