Let’s join forces for this mission! Teaching kids the important skills and water safety is a big responsibility that goes beyond just a job. We’d be thrilled if you could lend a hand, share this message, or tag someone who could be a fantastic asset to the next generation of swimmers. Perhaps it’s you—Link in Bio

Alright y’all, let’s have some real talk. Texans driving in snow and ice is like putting brisket in a microwave—it’s just not meant to be.

Today’s forecast calls for icy roads and possible snow, and we at the Burleson Police Department strongly advise you to stay home unless you absolutely must go out.

Here’s the deal:

Texans + Snow = A Recipe for Chaos.
We don’t get enough practice driving on icy roads to be good at it. The odds of ending up in a ditch or bumping into someone else’s truck? High. (We don’t make enough in a day to pay for our insurance deductible, so why risk it!?!)

Your Adventure = First Responder’s Risk
Every time someone tries to “test their luck,” our first responders have to put themselves in dangerous situations to rescue them. Don’t be that guy who turns a snow day into an emergency.

So, if you HAVE to drive (and we mean HAVE to), here are a few tips for surviving the icy apocalypse:
1. Drive Slow: Pretend you’re cruising through a Buc-ee’s parking lot looking for a spot.
2. No Sudden Moves: No slamming on brakes or jerky steering—ice will laugh in your face.
3. Leave Space: You need at least 5-10 seconds of distance between you and the car ahead.
4. Stay Off Overpasses: Bridges and overpasses freeze first, and your tires won’t care if you prayed before crossing.
5. Pack Essentials: If you do venture out, bring a blanket, water, snacks, and a phone charger. If you slide off the road, you’ll want more than just cowboy grit to survive.

But seriously, let’s be real—Netflix doesn’t buffer in the snow. Your couch is calling. Grab some hot chocolate, put on your fluffiest socks, and enjoy the rare Texas winter from inside your house.

And if you just can’t resist going out? Just know that every pothole will be judging your life choices.

Stay safe, Burleson, and let’s show Mother Nature that we know how to handle a snow day: by staying inside.
