I heard an incredible sermon about Samuel anointing David...
When God told Samuel to go to Bethlehem to find the next king, Samuel didn’t know who he was looking for...
When he arrives, he approaches the oldest son because he “looked like a king.” But God said, no, not him.
Samuel goes down the line and with each son that looks the part, God says no. Finally, Samuel asks if there are any sons missing...
Jacob replies, yes, the youngest (the original text says smallest) is in the fields with the sheep.
When Samuel sees David, God tells him that he’s the one and this is where we see this verse...
But the Lord said to Samuel, “Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” - 1 Samuel 16:7
The whole sermon was about what we see as small, God sees as big. And sometimes what we see as big, God sees as small.
He ended the sermon by saying, “wait for David.”
Your situation may not look the way you want it to...
You may feel undervalued at work...
You may be single feeling like the right person isn’t out there...
You may watch those around you succeed and you feel stuck...
WAIT FOR DAVID! Your time is coming...what you see as small, God sees as big!
What a powerful message! I’m feeling so encouraged! Because all the things in my life that I’ve claimed as insignificant are much, much bigger in HIS eyes!

I got caught by the RayBans! Let me tell you what happened at breakfast today…
I was having breakfast with one of my brothers ( ) and we got the chance to love and encourage our server.
It was one of those moments where I thought, “I don’t have time for this, Baylor and I have important things to catch up on.” But the Holy Spirit…
The Holy Spirit redirected my thoughts quickly.
We invited her to pull up a chair and talk with us. We asked questions, we encouraged her, I even bought her new book on Amazon and had it shipped to her apartment.
Well, during the conversation, Baylor turned on his Meta glasses to capture me ministering to her. It was pretty cool!
Don’t miss moments to leave people better than you find them. I pray that she will choose herself and be in a better place next time we see her at Ham N Eggs!

Today was bittersweet…
I’ve always been frustrated by the speakers that walk on stage, speak, then walk off the stage and leave.
I love connecting with the people.
I love encouraging the discouraged.
I’m like Olaf and I like to give warm hugs.
But today, I had to walk on and then walk off and leave. It was hard!
Sorry to those of you I didn’t get to shake your hand or hug your neck, I’ll stay longer next time!
But I am excited to get home in time to tuck my kids in bed!
I’m forever grateful to my favorite person in the mortgage industry, ! Thank you for always trusting me to love and serve youe people!

I just sent this to my friend that I’m flying to see in South Dakota! He’s bringing me in to speak to a room full of realtors!
How did this happen? On a random FaceTime call!
Why did I send him this picture? Because it keeps our relationship real and fun!
We take work way too seriously these days!
You better not automate the humanity out of what you do. It’s your humanity that keeps people coming back and telling their friends!
Today is going to be so fun! I’ll be on the ground in SD for less than four hours, then back to DFW to tuck my kids in bed!
Main Character Syndrome is at the center of our conversation today. I pray people are encouraged and challenged to make everything they do about the people they serve, not themselves.

This statement was made during my c12 group today!
It shook me a little bit.
Our world revolves around “solutions” that help us minimize pressure.
But as a leader, I know that pressure is a privilege!
