What’s the difference between Abraham, Moses, Ruth, Buddha, Gandhi, Mother Teresa… and YOU?

It’s not that God spoke to them.
He speaks to all of us.

They just moved when they heard it.

They didn’t wait.
They didn’t hesitate.
They didn’t need guarantees.

They stepped on faith.

Truth is…
You’ve felt it too.

That pull.
That calling.
That voice.

So the real question is:

Why didn’t you move?

Remember them days!
We came from an environment where the odds were real.
Now we both serve at one of the most prestigious private universities in the country.

Same roots. Different results.
Remember them days—because that’s where the foundation was laid.

Jethro didn’t have a title. He had wisdom—and the courage to speak it.

When Moses was burning out, he gave him a simple solution:
surround yourself with capable, trustworthy, values-driven people (Exodus 18:21).

Leaders are still ignoring that today.

After decades competing, coaching at the highest level, and leading programs and organizations, one thing is clear:

The right person in your corner doesn’t just add value.
They change the trajectory.

The right advisor brings:
→ Wisdom from the road ahead
→ Expertise you don’t have
→ Access you don’t see yet
→ Courage to tell you the truth

Rehoboam had advisors—he chose the wrong ones and lost a kingdom (1 Kings).

That’s the difference between a yes-room and a war room.

I’ve sat in both. I know which one produces championships.

If you’re building something meaningful, be intentional about who’s at your table.

Because you don’t rise to the level of your resources—
you fall to the level of your counsel.

“Who told you that you were naked?” — The Bible
When God went looking for Adam, Adam was hiding—ashamed, exposed, and out of alignment.
God’s response wasn’t comfort first.
It was a question:
“Who told you that you were naked?”
In other words…
Who have you been listening to?

As a coach, I find myself asking that same question.
Because I know the plan.
I see the progression.
I understand the timing.
But sometimes, an athlete starts to shift—
Not because the plan failed…
But because outside voices got louder than the mission.
Someone told them they weren’t ready.
Someone told them to rush.
And just like that…
Confidence turns into confusion.
Focus turns into distraction.

This isn’t just for athletes.
Let me be clear:
Not every voice deserves access to your mind.
Growth requires trust.
Timing requires patience.
Ex*****on requires clarity.
And clarity gets disrupted when you let people speak into what they don’t carry.

It’s having a mentor, a coach, or a circle that believes in you, carries your vision, and is committed to your win.
Then having the discipline to listen to them—and not the noise.

Because at the end of the day:
A distracted mind is a defeated mind.
So I’ll ask you the same question:
Who have you been listening to…
and who told you that you were naked?

Coaching isn’t measured in wins and records… it’s measured in the lives that stay connected, the bonds that outlast the seasons, and the men and women who still show up for each other across the world.
When your athletes become family, when they carry the standard without you, when they reunite to support one of their own…..
that’s impact.
That’s purpose.
That’s legacy.
