I wrote this line based on a sermon I heard years ago that changed Amanda's and my life. The speaker, the amazing Clive Calver, was talking about the church in Iran that wasn't scared of or devastated by bombings. "They believe in a God who walks on water, nothing intimidates them."

I hope we recall that anytime we're facing something significant.

💦 Let's Talk About Sweat. 💦
If you're finding your prosthetic feels less comfortable during hot and humid weather, you're not alone.
Warm temperatures and high humidity can increase sweating, particularly inside the prosthetic socket. While sweating is the body's natural way of cooling itself, excess moisture can affect comfort, contribute to skin irritation, and make it more difficult to maintain a secure fit throughout the day.

Why Managing Moisture Matters
✅ Excessive perspiration can increase friction between your skin and the liner or socket.
✅ Moisture can contribute to skin irritation, rashes, and pressure areas.
✅ Sweat buildup may affect suspension and socket comfort, particularly during prolonged activity.

Summer Self-Care Tips
🧼 Clean your liner regularly Summer heat can increase perspiration and bacterial growth. Follow your prosthetist's recommendations for daily liner cleaning and drying.
🧦 Carry extra supplies Many prosthetic users find it helpful to keep spare prosthetic socks, soft towels, or unscented wipes available when away from home.
🚶 Take cooling breaks If possible, remove your prosthesis periodically in a cool environment to allow your skin to dry and recover.
👩‍⚕️ Talk with your prosthetist If sweating is causing skin problems or affecting your prosthetic fit, your prosthetist may be able to recommend moisture-management strategies or products that are appropriate for your situation.

Remember
A small amount of extra attention to skin care and moisture management can help prevent minor discomfort from becoming a larger problem.
