Restored antique Kampilan. This kampilan is one of the smaller variants. Original blade, handle, and wooden scabbard. The blade was cleaned of any active rust and stabilized. The blade was refitted using tradition wood tar pitch. The wooden handle and scabbard were cleaned. Horse hair plugs have been added to the handle. Cracks in the scabbard were repaired and new leather cord bindings have been added.
This blade is a chopper! I might have to do a cutting video with it later.
Thanks for looking!

Have I ever mentioned that I pimp-out blades? Sometimes I will do customizations to production blades to increase their appeal and give it a more personalized touch. Here’s an example of a wakizashi made by Badger Blades. This is a personal purchase for my collection. This short sword doesn’t follow the traditional construction methods of the Japanese but it handled well and I liked the untraditional look of it. In my opinion it had an apocalyptic theme to it. My primary exception was the thread handle wrapping and lack of a scabbard.
So I reconstructed the handle and made a matching scabbard to tie the piece into a complete theme.
It totally made it a different sword with better handling capabilities.
Thanks for looking and let me what you think.

This is one of my new designs. I call it the “Padfoot”. It meant to be a slim light skinner. The blade is 1/8 thick 1084 steel that has been differentially heat treated producing a hamon. The handle is comprised of blue turquoise, Purple Heart, Padauk, and Maple.
This one already going to a new home.
Thanks for looking!

I’m really happy with how this turned out!
