Technician Shortage Impacts Local Fireworks Displays A worker shortage in the fireworks technician industry is affecting local displays. News4’s Tommy McFly reports on how a Northern Virginia town is finding the silver lining in another supply chain snag.

Fireworks is a dangerous industry and we need competent passionate workers in it.. You must be over 18 years old to work on a firework sites and lots of sweat and did I mention volunteer hours.

If you want to get into fireworks being a pyrotechnician be ready for lots of volunteer hours lots of repetitive tasks lots and lots of hot sweaty afternoons. Typically your first two shows are volunteer to prove that you have a passion or the work in that you will work hard enough to be employed., You are also asked to volunteer to prepare and cleanup work afterwards.

If you want to get your own state certification you will need at least four displays worked under a qualified pyrotechnician as well as be prepared for up to $500 and expenses for tests, background checks, and certification applications.

I'm 38 year old Spinal Cord Injured quadriplegic man. I'm in need of assistance with :
Weekday morning (Monday-Friday 8am-2pm 30-35 hrs/wk)
Weekend Mornings (Saturday- Sunday 9am-3pm 12-15 hrs/wk )
Evenings (2-3 nights a week 9pm-12midnight 8-12 hrs/wk)
I need help getting in and out of bed, to the wheelchair daily grooming, bathing, toileting, dressing, and help domestically around the house, cleaning, dishes, laundry, projects and more. I have a service dog, so any applicant should be dog friendly. A background check is required but is not a barring factor. Pay is $12+/hour through VA-DMAS and Public Partnerships.
