Very grateful for the group of kids that put in the work to help turn this program around!
FROM 1-8 TO 7-2… AND STILL LIKELY MISSING THE PLAYOFFS?! 🏈
One of the best turnaround stories in West Michigan high school football this season belongs to the Fremont Packers!
After finishing just 1-8 in 2025, Fremont completely flipped the script in 2026, finishing 7-2 and recording its first seven-win season since 2009!
Take a look at some of these incredible improvements:
📈 Scoring jumped from 14.0 to 28.4 points per game.
📉 Points allowed dropped from 39.2 to just 14.7 per game.
📈 Fremont went from a -227 point differential to +124, an incredible 351-point swing!
The Packers also turned FIVE losses from 2025 into victories over those same opponents this fall!
Here's the crazy part: Fremont is likely going to miss the playoffs despite finishing 7-2.
The Packers compete in Division 4, but several of their conference opponents are smaller schools competing in Divisions 5, 6 and 7. With Michigan's playoff-point system factoring in opponent strength and success, Fremont's seven victories haven't been enough to put them comfortably inside the postseason field.
Following Friday night's 52-0 victory over Newaygo, Fremont sits No. 35 in Division 4 playoff points, with only the top 32 teams qualifying.
Nothing is official until tonight's MHSAA playoff announcement, but the Packers appear to be on the outside looking in.
Regardless of what happens, what a turnaround for Fremont's players and coaching staff! Job well done to Coach Hudson and the Packers.
