An Optimizer is a man who takes responsibility.

Look at that word closely, and you’ll see two words within it...

“Response” and “ability”

To take responsibility is to understand that you have
the ability to choose your response in any situation.

That despite what happens to you...

Despite who’s around you...

Despite any other external circumstances...

It’s your gift as an Optimizer that you remain in control.

That you can choose to act based on the perspective of your future self...

Rather than react based on the same old scripts of your past.

An Optimizer doesn’t blame things outside of himself...

He takes radical responsibility. He takes extreme ownership.

He understands that even if it’s not his fault, it is his responsibility.

An Optimizer knows that because he’s the problem, he’s also the solution.

He stays in the drivers seat of his life...

Solving hIs problems rather than submitting to them.

Victims blame others. They give away their power and remain stuck...

Optimizers take responsibility. They remain in control and continue to grow.

Reactors respond and act based on their emotions, feelings, and moods...

Optimizers respond and act based on their goals, values, and vision.

YOU ARE AN OPTIMIZER.

There’s no product without the process.

No fruits without watering the roots.

You can see someone’s chapter 30…

And forget there was a chapter 3.

The key to my journey was that I never set a fitness goal.

I never said I wanted to get X result in Y timeframe.

The key to my journey was that I made a decision about the type of man I wanted to be.

My old self was Procrastinator Jacob…

My life mantra was just “go with the flow”

I wasn’t thinking about my future self…

If it felt good, I would do it.

This way of living didn’t bring me to where I wanted to be.

It took a toll on my self-esteem, the way I thought about myself.

I didn’t know my own value, and it brought me to a low season in my life.

A season where I was numb.
Coasting through life as the victim to my own problems.

The gym was the one place in my life where I felt in control.

It was the one place where I could make myself proud.

Where I could earn self-confidence…

And over time, as the workouts stacked up, and the healthy habits accumulated…

My perspective started to shift.

I stopped viewing myself as Procrastinator Jacob…

I started viewing myself as the guy who wanted to be his best.

It was a subtle shift, but over time it made a massive difference.

My muscles started growing, and I got more defined.
My mind became more clear, and I became smarter.
My courage developed, and I went all in on my dreams.

Who I was before couldn’t have the new results…

To get more, I had to become more.

I had to grow. I had to change.

I was no longer Procrastinator Jacob…

I became Growth Minded Jacob.

and with that identity shift, came new outcomes.

At some point I got tired of coasting…

and I went all in on optimizing!

More information feeds procrastination.

More action creates transformation.

Imagine scrolling Instagram saving exercise tutorials and high protein recipes…

Meanwhile you skip breakfast, overindulge on the weekends, and you’re inconsistent in the gym.

You tell yourself you’re “getting motivated”, but in reality you’re delaying the things that actually move the needle.

The funny part about fitness is how simple it really is.

Eat the right foods in the right amount.
Stay active and exercise consistently.
Don’t stop.

There’s no magic hack you’re missing.
Just the fundamentals you’re avoiding.

At some point you have to stop deluding yourself…

You just have to be able to look in the mirror and say:

“this is the product of my previous actions and habits”
“I accept where I am. This is a fact”
“Now I commit to change”

At that point you take your power back.
You stop looking for a shortcut.
You stop looking for someone else to come save the day.

You just look inward.
You recommit to a new identity.
To new standards. To new habits.

You go all in on becoming your optimized fit self.

The things you used to let slide won’t compute in the mental operating system of who you’re becoming.

You stop being the guy who has to put up a facade to cover up for his own lack of integrity…

You start being the guy who can carry himself with self-respect.

The guy who can look in the mirror with bulletproof conviction that he’s showing up for himself.

You don’t care what anyone in the gym thinks of you…

You’re doing this for you.
To become the man you were meant to be.
To earn the confidence you know is possible for you.

At that point you’re no longer the procrastinator…

You’re the action taker.

You’re no longer the coaster…

You’re an Optimizer.
