RMC HISTORY

Founded in 2006 by Andy Farina, the Vision of RMC is to see amazing inspiration, unity, health & wholeness among our fitness friends and those they care about.

So how did the Running Man Club start? It started with a small group of people dedicated to improve their health by going to the Swamp (Ben Hill Griffin Stadium) every Monday at 5:30pm and do a stadium workout. Not knowing what to call themselves, it was suggested by Andy Farina and Stephen Topham to name the group after a favorite movie of theirs, The Running Man. Thus RMC was born.

The Running Man Club would then evolve to not just doing the Monday Stadium Workout but also adding in a couple of runs no more than a couple of miles. They met up each year at the annual Gator Gallop in the fall. As members on the club became stronger, loftier goals were established and later conquered.

2011 was the year of the Mud runs/Obstacle races. A year long goal was established. That goal was to complete a Tough Mudder (11+ miles w/ 20 - 25 obstacle). Throughout the year, RMCers participated in many events tailored to becoming stronger and smarter in order to accomplish the main goal. They included the Warrior Dash, Rugged Maniac, Ragin' Warrior, Savage Race, Iron Crusader, and The Swamp Dash. During this time frame, many of our core members joined in and helped RMC with becoming what it is today.

In 2012 til the present, those RMCers have expanded their horizons by setting and accomplishing goals never thought off. Half marathons, marathons, ultra marathons, triathlons, half ironmans, and GORUCK events to name a few.

Now our members vary from mud/obstacle racing, ultra runners, marathoners, triathletes, and ruckers all the way to complete fitness rookies and recent couch potatoes just looking to start their healthy and active life choices. If you think that you’re not fit enough to join the group, stop thinking and come see what the fuss is all about. Our workouts can be tailored to all fitness levels, so don't be scared. We welcome everyone to participate and have a good time. Better2gether.
