Unicorn Fields Farm

Family owned and operated Horse Boarding Farm in Gainesville, FL

Unicorn Fields Farm has space available for pasture board. We are located on the west side of Gainesville in Jonesville, only 8 minutes from Santa Fe and 15 minutes from UF. Boarders at the farm ride in a variety of disciplines, from western pleasure, trail, dressage and jumping. Students are very welcome. Horses have continuous access to grass and/or hay rolls. We customize feeding for the needs of each individual horse. We feed Seminole Feeds. And of course we feed any supplements provided by the owner. Horses are separated during feeding to reduce conflict and to make sure horses eat their own food. We have a large riding arena, areas for jumps, a 60' round pen, and concrete wash-stand. We have almost 40 acres to ride on and the farm is on a quiet, rider-friendly road. There are excellent trails near the farm and the 80 acre Saarinen Preserve, designed for horse riding, is only minutes from the farm. We have a spacious tack room with space for Boarders' tack and supplies, a changing area, bathroom, and a lunch space with refrigerator and microwave. Fee for standard board is $275.00 per month and it covers feed and hay. Owners are resposible for any supplements. We will give your horse the same loving care we give our own. The owner lives on the farm and horses are checked on regularly. Vet and Boarder references are available.

[04/23/19]   Unicorn Farms has one gelding available for onsite lease , contact me at [email protected] for details . We are currently full, but will update here when we have boarding space ( s) available .

Blue ๐Ÿ’™ ( photo by Ellise ) Blue is a very special horse to our family , as he belonged to my rancher cousin , John . I learned to ride at age 2 on my aunt and uncleโ€™s cattle ranch in Sebring , FL . My cousin lived on the ranch his entire life and he sold Blue to me right before he passed away so Blue was his final horse after a lifetime of ranch horses .

The geldings ๐Ÿ’™ my Takoda is leading them in . You would never know he has heaves and anhidrosis , he is doing so well these days -

Good morning from the farm โ˜€๏ธ

" Man o' War was known for being a sour horse, inheriting his dam's high-strung temperament and his sire's fiery disposition.

During his retirement at Faraway Farm, Man o' War befriended his groom, Will Harbut. Will and "Big Red" were opposites. Will's melodic voice and calm demeanor helped sooth the horse. Every day, Will Harbut would fed, water, hand walk, and groom Big Red. He mucked out his stall and bathed him when the horse needed it. When it was time for Man o' War to fulfill his stud duties and make the trip to the breeding shed, it would be Will Harbut whom would walk him there and back. The two spent all day with each other. Will was the first and the last person Man o' War saw every day.

When Will Harbut died in 1947, Man o' War was distraught. The horse began to fade, riddled with sadness. He passed away less than one month after his groom, listed as an apparent heart attack. Perhaps his heart was so broken that he could no longer stand to be alive without his best friend. (by Champions of the Track)

โ€œI owe her sanctuary. My love for her is deep.โ€

Unicorn Fields Farm

Natia , Takoda , and Dallas - my asthma horses . Natia is a spotted saddle mare and is doing very well on a low dose of Dex and has not needed a breathing treatment in several weeks . Unfortunately asthma in horses ( โ€œ heaves โ€œ ) is becoming more common in Florida . Takoda was first diagnosed with heaves in 2012 and was our first family horse with asthma . He has the additional diagnosis of anhidrosis ( an inability to sweat ) . He is also currently doing extremely well on minimal meds . We adopted Natia in July and sweet Dallas in October . All 3 are wonderful blessings and are living their best lives in spite of having ongoing health challenges .
