We got the unfortunate call for a failed branch on a cabin a couple days ago. We used three surrounding trees including its own canopy to bring this branch down without any further damage to the structure. 4 porta wraps, 4 rigging lines, 1 locked off emergency rigging line, 3 climb lines, and another rope for a controlled swing on the log. Cranes in tree work are pretty sweet but nothing beats watching a climber create an advanced controlled rigging scenario.

The felling process. Face cut ended up being parallel to the house which wasn’t favorable in this case as there was an ac right next to us and didn’t want the butt to bounce around. I added a small swinging Dutchman and a heavy hinge on the side opposite of the house.

Jarred and I made a quick drive over to Antlers for a small oak removal the other day. Teaming up with a local land developer, we got everything safely on the ground and the other guys handled the debris removal. Stump diameter averaged 62 across.

High temperatures can put a lot of stress on our trees, but a little extra care goes a long way. 🌳☀️

During hot spells, we recommend giving trees a deep soak early in the morning. This gives roots time to absorb water before the sun is at its strongest. A slow, steady watering a few times a week is usually better than light daily sprinkles, since that encourages roots to grow deeper and stay healthy. Best Practice for watering is around the outer tips of the canopy where primary absorption occurs. Be sure to not allow water to spray on the trunk for long periods of time, if at all, as this can cause disease and rot.

If you’re ever unsure about how much water your trees need, we’re happy to share advice. Keeping them hydrated now helps them stay strong all season.
