As I have sat and read the posts and comments about this year's Gassaway Days, I truly believe people are starting to see and appreciate our little committee. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
Thank you for believing in us, for bearing with us, and for your understanding throughout this journey. We all worked incredibly hard to make Gassaway Days a fun and memorable experience for our community.
Even with the obstacles that were put in our way, I think it's safe to say that most people had a great time. We know we couldn't have carnival rides like many had hoped, and the parade had regulations we were to follow (even though we have a few rebels out there, lol). But as I look through the pictures that I've taken and the ones that have been shared with me, seeing the huge smiles on the kids' faces reminds me that those moments are what truly matter.
I also want to give a special thank you to everyone who stepped up to help or volunteered their time. There were kids who spent hours in the summer heat wearing character costumes just to bring joy to other children. There were people making supply runs to neighboring towns at 6:00 in the morning and even 11:00 at night without hesitation. Countless volunteers gave their time behind the scenes, often without anyone knowing everything they did.
None of this would have been possible without every volunteer, sponsor, vendor, entertainer, participant, public safety official, and every person who came out to support Gassaway Days. You all played a part in making this celebration special.
Our committee isn't perfect, and we're always learning. We will take what we've learned this year, listen to your suggestions, and continue working to make Gassaway Days even better in the years to come.
Thank you again for your support, your patience, and for making memories with us. Seeing our community come together and watching our children smile made every late night, every challenge, and every ounce of hard work worth it.
We can't wait to see what next year brings.
