GET TUFF, being tough, isn't just about lifting weights, being physically strong, or able to shoot or fight. It's also about the ability to function physically and mentally while extremely hungry, while exhausted, in the freezing cold or sweltering heat. It's about the fortitude and grit to withstand and survive anything from a natural disaster to societal collapse.
We must push ourselves, test ourselves. Stop succumbing to comfort at every opportunity. Fast often while working. Run in the cold rain. Camp in the winter. Force yourself to use your mind and fine motor skills when you'd rather go to bed. Find your limits, then push them further. GET TUFF! Be tough.

Sharing this quote because it it so damn true!
"Last month in Cleveland, a father got his skull cracked open with a tire iron while his two kids watched from the backseat. In Phoenix, a man's arms were broken in three places as he was forced to watch two animals assault his wife in their own driveway. In Atlanta, a grandfather was beaten unconscious at a gas station for 37 dollars and a pack of ci******es.
This is the reality of violence in America right now.
It's not a movie. It's not a news story that happens to other people in other cities.
It's happening every single day to men who thought they were prepared.
Men who carried guns. Men who took martial arts classes. Men who thought "it won't happen to me."
And when it did happen... their training failed them. Their weapons failed them. Their confidence evaporated in three seconds of pure chaos.
Here's what nobody wants to tell you about that gun on your hip or those years you spent in the dojo.
When violence explodes in your face... when your heart rate spikes to 180 and adrenaline floods your system... when some predator closes the distance faster than you can process... all that training turns to dust.
Your concealed carry? Useless if you can't create space to draw.
Your martial arts? Built for cooperative partners and point-scoring, not for some meth-head who doesn't care about your fancy techniques.
In fact, that training might get you killed.
Because it gave you false confidence. Made you think you were ready. Made you believe you'd "just handle it" when the moment came.
Then the moment comes and you freeze.
Your brain locks up trying to remember "step one" while someone is beating you into the pavement.
Your fine motor skills disappear and you can't even grip your weapon properly.
Your fancy spinning kick or arm-bar evaporates because your body is flooded with chemicals it's never experienced before.
And while you're standing there paralyzed, trying to access training that doesn't work under chaos... you're getting destroyed.
Or worse... your family is.
This is the dirty truth nobody in the self-defense industry wants to tell you.
Because they make money selling you complexity... belt systems, advanced techniques, years of training.
One brutal principle: when violence comes, you don't need technique. You need targets.
The throat. The eyes. The groin. The knees.
Vulnerable spots on the human body that collapse when struck, regardless of how big you are, how old you are, or how out of shape you are.
Not martial arts, but applied human anatomy with bad intentions.
Gross-motor strikes that your body can execute when your brain is screaming and your hands are shaking. Instinctive, ugly, brutal movements.
No kata. No belt tests. No philosophical BS about "the warrior's path."
Just the vicious reality of how to shut down a human threat in under three seconds using the body's built-in off-switches.
You're not learning to "fight." You're learning to injure.
There's a difference.
Fighting is what happens in a cage with rules and a ref. Injuring is what happens when someone threatens your family and you put them on the ground with a crushed larynx.
One keeps you in the gym for years. The other keeps you breathing."
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

A sustainable nutrition plan has to allow for special occasions, holidays, birthdays, celebrations with friends and family. 🤷♂️
Thursday evening, 3 to 6 hours after your last culinary indulgence, you can exercise in the cardio heart rate zone for a minimum of 30 minutes to burn off the excess carbs!
Just because it's getting cold outside doesn't mean you can hibernate indoors and become a soft little sniveling recluse!
The Russian military (and others) exercise shirtless in the winter for a reason. Physical and mental resilience. If they can handle THAT, you can handle training outdoors with modern synthetic materials protecting your powder puff ass! Don't make excuses! GET TUFF!
STANCE! As in the position in which you stand in relation to your attacker.
Combat Sport vs Self-Defense:
Stance in a Combat Sport is based on two fighters with generally equal size & weight working toward the same goal within a set of rules.
Stance in Self-Defense varies depending on variance in size, weight, distance, whether you're armed or not, and without knowing if your attacker(s) is/are armed or not, with your goal being to end the situation ASAP.
Using a Combat Sport stance in a self-defense situation could be detrimental to your health and longevity. Don't fool yourself.

IYKYK. When your life is in danger is not the time to wish you had prepared. Let's train!
What does a GET TUFF men's outdoor group fitness sessions look like? If you've ever served in the military, you know. If not, it goes like this:
1. Warm up. Head to toe joint rotations, jog in place, side straddle hops (aka jumping jacks), etc, to get limber and elevate heart rate.
2. Calisthenics. Push-ups, squats, ab work, etc, to build muscular strength and endurance.
3. HIIT. Grass drills, relays, sprints, burpees, and other high-intensity complex movements, to build aerobic efficiency and endurance.
4. Other. A variety of options that work multiple aspects of fitness, to include neuromuscular exercise: proprioception, balance, speed and agility, etc.
5. Cool down. Low-intensity movements to let your heart rate and breathing slow to normal, followed by slow stretches to prevent cramping.
6. The intangible. Throughout the session: community, comeraderi, peer support and motivation to push yourself beyond perceived physical and mental limits in order to see improvement you didn't think possible. Forge friendships, network, and regain your bearings in a hectic world. We veterans know it, and we miss it.
Let's build the group and get rid of that belly flab in the process. Your daily energy will skyrocket!
Alright, gentlemen! It's time to prioritize your health and fitness! So, find your workout clothes, get some good athletic shoes, and figure out if you're going to join the group for early morning outdoor sessions in Belmont, or evening outdoor sessions in Gastonia? And don't forget the monthly Trail Ruck!

You can keep procrastinating or ignoring your need to get in shape and get trained to defend yourselves, or you can be a victim. NO ONE EXPECTS IT TO THEM!!
Witnesses say a man was chased down and beheaded in front of his family after he tried to run to them for help. The suspect was allegedly inside the country illegally.
"They came out, they didn't know what to do."
