Hi everyone!

Just a reminder for the make-up opens we have scheduled for gymnastics classes that have been canceled due to weather or instructor illness. We are trying to make sure everyone has opportunity.

Roscommon - this Friday, March 10th from 6:00-7:00 with Amber, Crystal, and Liv
Ga***rd - this Friday, March 10th from 5:30-6:30 with Kelsey and Sieara!

If you have littles, parents please feel free to come in and guide them if you're worried about the big kids!

We are searching for an assistant mini & level 1 gymnastics coach for our Ga***rd location. We can train, but experience with children, coaching, and gymnastics are a plus. We have a few assistants leaving for college in the fall, so our hope is to train (paid) from June - August and have their own groups in September.

We are looking for someone consistent with physical capabilities of spotting, keeping kids on task, and safely making corrections at stations. This individual will have a group of 5 or so athletes per class and follow lesson plans created by the head coach.

Pay is dependent on age and knowledge. If over the age of 18, a background check is required.

Skye High:
As of now, classes are still on for tonight! Any last minute changes will be texted if needed, but we hope roads will be decent for class time.

Snow Day Make-Up Days! Please join us for make-up open gyms on the following days:

Roscommon: March 10th - 6:00-7:00
(Comp team practice that day will go 4:30-6:00)

Ga***rd: March 10th - 5:30-6:30

Tots classes, please attend another tot class that is scheduled throughout the week, and just let your coach know you're there for a make-up! If you decide to attend make-up open gym with younger athletes, it is recommended you come in with them to help make sure we can all stay safe!

Hey everyone!! We are bringing back CHALK PHOTOS. These are an absolute blast to take, and they turn out so nicely. See samples below.

Chalk Photo Sessions are 15 minutes long. Please arrive 10 minutes before your session to stretch if needed and choose your colors. Athletes are NOT permitted to wear any competition uniform or any recital uniforms (unless from a prior season). If you wish to have a duo session, please book two consecutive time slots, and we can take photos with the athletes together as well.

Photos will be done at the dance studio in Grayling. 109 Ottawa St, Grayling MI (next door to White Pine & Petals)

Cost is $40. Images will be available on your portal within 2 weeks of our shoot date.

A message from our lovely Miss Maggie:

Hey there, this is for my Skye High Gym parents!
It’s Miss Maggie here and I have a message that I feel like I owe to all of you.
I just want to preface, I am absolutely in love with my job. Every single aspect of it is perfect, my boss, my co-workers, the loving and supportive parents, and most importantly the kids. There is nothing I love more than being surrounded by the love and purity that children radiate.

You may think of me as someone who helps your kids, but the truth is, your kids help ME.
The amount of times I have had a terrible school day, or just had been going through a really hard time, and then I have come into work and been greeted and surrounded by hugs, laughter, and joy that all of your kids bring to class everyday is better than any medicine. THEY KEEP ME GOING.

On that note, I felt that I owed you guys this heads up. I will be taking the Winter session off to work on a project through my school. It is very exciting and I am very grateful to have the opportunity to work on it (I’m not disclosing what it is yet). However, it is extremely time consuming, and it would just be unrealistic for me to try to coach during it. I am very sad to say that next week will be my last week until March 2023 (I AM COMING BACK 😁 !!!). I know it is only 3 months, but it is going to be really hard for me to part from the kids for that long. A lot of them I’ve had since my first day on the job. So please don’t be concerned if I shed a few tears next week at class 😂
I will tell the kids, but I also wanted to tell you guys. I don’t want to just leave without letting any of you know. I also just wanted to let you know how grateful I am for letting me be apart of your children’s lives.
Thank you all so much for being so supportive of me and thank you for understanding.

Hi everyone,

As we start to accumulate snow, I want to let everyone know our procedures for snow days.

If school is closed, we will still make our decision based on the weather later in the day. We will close by 2pm if possible. Sometimes things clear up, and we are still able to have class. However, there are some instances when the storm hits in the evening, so we will cancel classes accordingly. (We have had the first class of the night and had reports that the roads were getting terrible, so we canceled the later classes.)

With the new parent portal system, we will send text and email updates as soon as we can.

Please keep in mind that a lot of our coaches do NOT live near the gyms/studio. In this case, we will ask our teachers if they feel safe to attend classes for the evening.

Make-up days will be posted at a later date. Sometimes we will just invite you to join in another class as a make-up if our schedules do not allow time.

Dance Studio - Grayling: Winter/Spring Session will run from January 2nd to May 19th. These athletes WILL participate in our recital! Recital information is posted below.

Gymnastics - Ga***rd & Roscommon: Our Winter Session will run from January 2nd to March 24th (Spring Break)
Our Spring Session will run from April 3rd to May 19th. The spring session will have specified classes that will and will not participate in recital. This registration will open February 15th.

Current competitive team members - you do NOT have to register for classes again unless you're participating in a recreational class.

RECITAL 2023 - SURF'S UP AT SKYE HIGH
Location: Kirtland Community College - 4800 W 4 Mile Rd, Grayling, MI 49738
Date: May 20th (Dress Rehearsal 10AM - Show 4PM - Seating & Vendors 3PM)
Recital Fees: $100 per class (this includes: 1 costume, 2 tickets, choreography fees)(classes with multiple routines will incur additional costume fees)
Recital fees are a part of the registration. In order to register for a recital class, you must pay your recital fees.
Pre-Order Tickets: $10 (on sale April 15th - May 15th)
Day-of Tickets: $15 (lap children are free - 3 & under)
Registration for recital classes will remain open for 1 week after classes begin.

We welcome everyone to wear their Halloween costumes next week to class (October 24th - October 29th)!

There will not be class on Halloween, October 31st.

We are so excited to introduce Coach Kelsey to our Ga***rd Gym!

Hi! My name is Kelsey! Gymnastics started for me when I was around 7 years old which quickly grew to be a sport I love. I then trained in competitive cheerleading for 11 years and sideline cheerleading for 6 years. I began coaching gymnastics at Boyne Area Gymnastics and Dance in 2013 and am excited to continue gymnastics by coaching and teaching others to love the sport as much as I do through Skye High!
