Germantown Family Aquatics Center Announces Opening
May 30, 2020
We are pleased that our staff is willing to commit to try and navigate the restrictions from the Governor’s Office in order to safely open our Aquatics Center this season. You will notice some changes though as we operate according to requirements and guidelines set forth by the Governor and Board of Health. Please understand that as requirements continuously change we will evaluate operations and make changes accordingly.
1. We will be opening on June 9, 2020 and hope to remain open through mid-August. These dates are flexible based on requirements, guidelines and staff availability.
2. The Aquatic Center will be open seven (7) days a week.
3. The Aquatic Center is supported by tax dollars from German Township and Germantown residents. During these uncertain times, we want to ensure that our residents are able to access the pool, so we have made the decision to only permit admission to city and township residents at this time. We thank those in neighboring communities who have supported the pool in the past and look forward to having them join us in the future.
4. Unfortunately, the current restrictions do not permit us to host swim teams, swim lessons, daycares, pool parties and after hours parties. Also, the zero entry baby pool or locker service is not available at this time. We will continue to evaluate as restrictions are lifted.
5. Due to pool capacity restrictions of 100 people we have extended swim hours in blocked time waves on a first come-first served basis.
A. Wave One 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. Free Senior Citizens 62+ Only
B. Wave Two 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. $3.00
C. Wave Three 2:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. $3.00
D. Wave Four 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. $2.00
Half-hour breaks between each wave will allow time for staff to clean and sanitize. Those who wish to swim again the same day must re-enter during the next wave, pay again and go to the back of the line to ensure admission for new swimmers.
6. Children 11 years of age and under must be accompanied by an adult (over 18) at all times.
7. Admission will be sold by daily pass only, first come-first served, until the 100-person capacity is reached for each wave. To avoid the possibility of an annual membership holder being turned away due to capacity limits, we will not be selling membership passes this year. We hope to implement a “no cash” credit/debit card based system for admissions.
8. So that we can phase-in operations, we will not be offering concessions at this time but will evaluate doing so in a couple of weeks. We encourage patrons to bring their own snacks and non-alcoholic beverages. We are researching a “no cash” credit/debit card based system for concessions, if we do open the concession stand.
9. Proper distancing protocol measures will be implemented at admission area. Sanitation protocol of chairs, equipment, restrooms, etc. will be followed.
10. Stay tuned to our page for further information.
We look forward to seeing you this summer! Thank you for your patience and support during these challenging times!

[05/22/20] On Friday, May 15, Governor Dewine and the CDC put out a set of requirements and guidelines to begin opening public pools. In Germantown, we see the benefits of opening, but need time to process, train employees and add a few of our own guidelines to ensure a safe opening of the Germantown Family Aquatic Center. Staff will be meeting this week to sort through the details and determine if we are able to meet the requirements of opening. We are in contact with other communities in the region to ascertain best practices, though some communities have chosen not to open their pools this summer. We are hopeful that we will be able to open, but stay tuned for more details in the next two weeks. We appreciate your patience! Thank you!
