Avonworth Alligators Swim Team

We did it! It’s Memorial Day Weekend, the “unofficial” start to Summer! The Avonworth Swim Board was recently given our preseason pool time from the Avonworth Community Pool and all our preseason information is included below!

Standard Preseason Practice Times (Use the Swimmer’s Age on 6/1/26):

Age 8 & Under Swimmers: 5:30-6:30 PM

Age 9-10 Swimmers: 6:30-7:30 PM

Age 11 & Over Swimmers: 7:30-8:30 PM (no practice for this age group on Tue. 5/26)

All practices are at the Avonworth Community Pool. Swimmers who swim with a long course club team are encouraged to continue practicing with their team and to come to Alligator practice when their schedule permits.

This will be our practice schedule for May 26 – June 5. On June 8th, regular morning practices will start and all Alligators will be grouped (that info will come out by June 5th).

Please note, there are a few exceptions to our schedule.They are as follows:

On Tuesday 5/26, there will be no 11 & Over Practice due to the online parent meeting that evening at 8 PM.
On Thursday 5/28, the Avonworth Community Pool is not available to us, so there is no practice that day.
On Thursday 6/4, we will be hosting our Practice Mock Meet that night so that will replace practice that evening.
Again, we will have practice on Tue. 5/26 (for 10 & Under Swimmers), and for all swimmers on Wed. 5/27, Fri. 5/29, Mon. 6/1, Tue. 6/2, Wed. 6/3, and Fri. 6/5.

Alligator Parents-

This message is specifically for 2 groups of swimmers. First, for those who are 8 & Under and do not swim with a club team in the Winter. Second, for those who are new to the Alligators for 2026.

If you are a new swimmer to the Alligators or a returning 8 and under swimmer who is not on a Winter club team such as NHA, STEEL, PEAQ, RXA, or NGAC, the coaching staff would like you to sign up for a 10 minute window to perform a swim evaluation at Northgate High School.

The swim evaluations are offered on 2 nights (Mon. 5/18 and Fri. 5/22) from 7:45-9:00 PM. Each swimmer will only in the in water for approximately 10 minutes. Swimmers will be asked to swim a length of the pool in freestyle as well as any other strokes (backstroke, breaststroke, or butterfly) that they feel comfortable with. This will help the coaching staff develop practice groups for the official start of morning practice on Monday, June 8th.

If you are new to the Alligators or an 8 & Under swimmer who is not involved with a Winter USA Swimming or YMCA club, you need to sign up!

We are currently planning the start of our season! Here are some important dates for Alligator Parents to mark on their calendars:

Mon. 5/18, Fri. 5/22, Wed. 5/27: Swimmer Evaluations at Northgate HS: This is only required for non-club 8 & Under Swimmers and all new swimmers to the Alligators. Each swimmer will only sign up for one 15 minute session on any of the 3 available dates. Info for this will be released toward the end of April!

Tuesday, May 26, 8 PM: Our Virtual Parent Online ZOOM Meeting: This is a very important meeting where we outline the year and introduce parents to the coaches, practice/meet policies, and answer questions. We ask that 1 parent attends this meeting online. More information will be released in May regarding this.

Tuesday 5/26 - Friday 6/5: Evening Practice at Avonworth Community Pool

As Avonworth Schools are in session through Fri. 6/5, we will be offering evening practices Mon.-Fri. for the first week and half of the season. Our practice window will be from 4:30-7:00 PM nightly. We will be running 3 practice sessions but still need to confirm details with the pool before we assign certain age groups to a time slot.
