Stuffie's Stitches & Embroidery We are planning to start up an embroidery business on the side and are excited to share our progress Handmade Value:

If something costs $25 to make..

And 10 hours.. Plus say if there's shipping involved.. So say about $35 total.. Plus my time. . I can't sell it to someone for $40.. How is that logical? Then I only make $5.. So that's $0.50 an hour! I can't give you something for free and just because someone is family or a close friend.. Doesn't mean you will get it free or very cheap.. And "what's the friends/family price?"
I will give you from $5 to $20 off the original price, depending what it is. If you don't like my prices, then you can make it yourself or look or Etsy or somewhere for someone who is willing to charge less, but they deserve to be paid more also. I will even help you by sending you a few suggestions from people on Etsy who have ready-made items. The items that I make are very high quality high skill craft that is taken years and years even half my lifetime to develop those expert skills. People just don't understand the time it takes to make something and the money. I'm definitely not trying to compete with Walmart. My items are custom made, requiring long discussions to tailor to your specific needs. My embroidery is either custom chosen to combine items for your specific pattern or sometimes I even need a digitizer to make changes to the design. I do not embroider on things ahead of time but only when they are ordered. When buying from a Hand Maker, you are buying more than an object. You are buying hundreds of hours of failures and experimentation. You are buying days, weeks and months of frustration and moments of Pure Joy. You aren't just buying a "thing". You're buying a PIECE OF HEART,
a PART OF A SOUL,
a MOMENT (actually hours) OF SOMEONE'S LIFE. Most importantly, you are buying like ARTIST more time to do something they are passionate about. :)

Sometimes you get so excited to show the customer the different orientations of their logo... That you stitch them both on the same pair of shorts?!!! I can laugh at it now LOL. Lesson learned. Don't embroider things at 10:30 at night unless you want to stay up all night pulling out the stitches 😂
