Little House on the Prairie meets 2026 Ranch Kid. 😂🥛🥞

DG called me while I was busy loading a trailer and asked for milk to make pancakes.

I told her, “We don’t have any. Figure it out.”

Apparently I should’ve known better than to say that to my feral kid whose favorite show is Little House on the Prairie. 🤣

I get back to the house and DG is nowhere to be found…but her dry pancake mix is all mixed up and sitting on the counter.

Then I look out the back door and here she comes carrying a little bowl from the direction of the pasture.

Y’all.

She went out, found Foxy our family milk cow TURNED LOOSE in the pasture, hand milked enough milk into a bowl, and brought it back to finish making her pancakes. 😂👏🏼

And THIS is 100% why I know these kids are going to be productive members of society.

Problem: No milk.
Solution: There is literally a cow outside. 🤷🏼‍♀️😂

It’s also moments like this that remind me why homeschooling and this crazy ranch life are so perfect for OUR family.

Sometimes the best lessons don’t come from a textbook.

Sometimes they come from wanting pancakes bad enough to go milk your own dang cow. 😂🥞🐄

How blessed are we to wake up everyday before the sun to do the job we prayed in the darkness for.

How blessed are we to share valleys with our spouse who our Lord and savior sent to share highs and lows with .

How blessed are we to soothe the crying child we asked our Heavenly Father to put into out lives.

How blessed are we to make our bed in the morning not knowing if it might be the last day we receive here on Earth.

You prayed for the life you are living today.

THE COMEBACK CHRONICLES: We stuck out like a sore thumb. 😂

And I mean, we REALLY stuck out.

Like a loud-colored red and white Paint at a Quarter Horse show kind of stuck out. 🤣

But you know what?

We did it anyway.

Judy Blue and I walked into that pen scared, nervous, way green, unsure of ourselves, and probably way too worried about what everybody else might think.

But we walked in.

And right now, that matters more to me than anything.

This comeback isn’t about walking back into the show pen after nearly 15 years and immediately being where I want to be. It’s about building. Growing. Sharpening the axe. Creating a winner, finding the holes and going home to work on them.

One ride at a time. One show at a time.

We may have been the loud-colored Paint in a world full of solid-colored Quarter Horses, but we showed up and we did the dang thing.

And now we’re one show closer.

One show closer to the day we confidently walk into a Paint show, drop my hand, and know that whether we win or not, we’ve done everything we could to set ourselves up to be successful. — KB

That’s what I’m chasing.

Not perfection. Preparation.

Thank you, Mike, for your patience, your help, and for being willing to put up with this sore-thumb, uptight, nervous Nelly in your solid-colored world. 😂 I appreciate you more than you know.

Judy Blue, we’ve got some work to do, girl.

And I absolutely cannot wait for the next one. ❤️🤍

The comeback continues. 🤠

P.S. Mike says I need to be more relaxed and less uptight. I said, “So basically more frumpy?” He said, “Yeah.” 🤣

But frumpy shows my fat rolls more… so drop your at-home core workouts below. 🤪😂

THE COMEBACK CHRONICLES: Well…we did it. 🤠

We’re headed home from my first horse show in nearly 15 years, and I’m not even sure I’ve completely processed it all yet. What a week it has been!

A few days ago, I told y’all there had been tears, nerves, doubt, and more than once I questioned whether I was actually ready to do this. At one point, I wasn’t even sure I was taking both horses.

But we loaded up anyway.

And I am SO glad we did.

Was it perfect? Nope. Did I knock every bit of the rust off in one weekend? Absolutely not. 😂 But I walked back into that show pen and showed my horse! We learned a lot, have a TON of things to work on, and know a few adjustments need to be made. But most importantly, we all get to head home with a little more experience than we came with.

And somewhere in the middle of it all, I remembered just how much I love this.

It felt a little like slipping back into my favorite pair of jeans that I haven’t worn in years…and realizing I can finally fit into them again! 😂

There’s something pretty special about coming back to a dream you set down for a season. Life looked a whole lot different the last time I walked into a show pen. Since then, there’s been marriage, babies, businesses, cattle, homeschooling, barrel racing, roping, and a whole lot of life lived.

And now, here I am again. A little older, hopefully a little wiser, definitely more tired 😂…but still that horse show kid at heart.

We’ve got plenty to work on, and I know there will be a whole lot more humbling moments along the way. But the first one is officially in the books.

And I am SO grateful that I got to venture back into this world on my favorite little paint mare. ❤️

Judy brought me back. She made me fall in love with horses all over again. Before we got the call a year and a half ago that I needed to buy her, I was honestly ready to be done with horses for myself. And then this little mare came along.

At only 4 years old, Judy is pretty dang special, and I don’t think she’ll ever fully know what she gave back to me. ❤️

And Hez, he was an absolute trooper! He handled the big city like a seasoned veteran. Nothing rattled him, nothing bothered him, and he was just a GOOD boy. For a 3 year old home raised c**t seeing all of this for the first time, I couldn’t have asked for much more from him.

And to my cheering section this weekend, you all were the absolute BEST. I’m so thankful for every bit of encouragement, every laugh, every helping hand, and mostly that I get to do this with y’all!

Comeback Show #1 — DONE. 🤠

Now we go home, make some changes, get back to work, and see where this little comeback takes us. ❤️

Great riders never stop learning. 🤠🐴

Being coached isn’t about being told what you’re doing wrong—it’s about having someone help you become better than you were yesterday. Stay open, stay humble, and keep growing.

There goes the vacation fund. 😂🤠

I always laugh when I see these trucks pull in because my first thought is, “Well… there goes the vacation fund.” 😂

But truth be told, we’ve created a life we once prayed for. A life full of cattle, horses, hay, feed bills, long days, early mornings, and apparently an impressive amount of money tied up in round bales. 🤪

And we really do love it… MOST days. 😂

Wouldn’t trade this crazy life for much. ❤️
