Get Fired Up!

I'm up and awake, can't sleep because I'm ๐Ÿ˜œ hurting pretty good with pain at the moment ๐Ÿ˜ก .

I had a procedure on a partially torn triceps about a month ago and then had surgery last week for my right shoulder repair. I've dropped about another 10 lbs of muscle (probably) since the last 2 surgeries.

I got to admit, it isn't fun getting injured, being forced to take time to heal, losing gains, losing your routine, interrupting your focus and plan for moving forward. I know it definitely gets me depressed and makes me to start stinking thinking.

So, SCREW THAT!

From a very young age I learned to control my mind and emotions by visualizing what I did want. I always made my goal crystal clear in my mind.

So, in order to get my spirits up to where they should be so my body can have a better chance at healing, I threw together some old school footage of me training.

It gets me fired up and wanting to work out, so I hope it can motivate you and get you fired up and re-committed to your goals. ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ’ช

Get Fired Up!

This throwback post is going way back to competing in the NYC Blue Thunder Bodybuilding show in 1996.

This was not only fun but rewarding because it forced me to break through a bunch of limiting beliefs and fears.

*I had so much holding me back mentally, I felt like I couldn't get out of my own way.

My struggle mentally was really just because of
FEAR:๐Ÿ˜จ False - Evidence - Appearing - Real

Once I faced my fears head on, guess what? They disappeared. ๐Ÿ˜ฑ
Or, they turned out to be easily dismissed.

As it turned out, I placed 3rd in light heavyweight division.๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ™„

I couldn't believe I let myself get like this...๐Ÿ˜ฉ

2 years ago, I slipped and fell tearing my rotator cuff. Shortly after, I fell again injuring the other. I couldn't train with weights except for rehab only. So besides being extremely frustrated and angry, I began to get deeply depressed. ๐Ÿ˜ข๐Ÿ˜ฉ

My chronic back pain also had me not moving very much which triggered more frustration and physical pain.

I was out of the gym for an entire year...
It sucked.

Sad to say it, but I began to take out my frustrations on food. ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿง๐Ÿก๐ŸŒฎ๐Ÿ—

๐Ÿ‘‰I began to eat everything in sight just to feel some sense of pleasure.๐Ÿ™ˆ

๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘งSome people say I don't know what it is like to be overweight. Yeah right...๐Ÿ‘Œ

I kept floundering. Here I was, 25+ years in the fitness business, keeping in top shape all my life, then leave my body fall apart, get sloppy and fat in my 40's.

No way๐Ÿ˜ ...Wasn't going to be me.

I had to make a decision to take control over my life and take action immediately.

The rest is history... I bounced back from it and now in better shape than ever.

Today I want to share my frustration with the "No Pain, No Gain" mentality...

Instead, adopt the mentality of "Train Smarter, Not Just Harder".

It will save you a lot of frustration, time and physical pain.
