“Those of us in the addiction treatment business need to get out of our silos and get out into the streets. We need to partner with community organizations-especially churches and schools-if we are ever going to begin to slow the plague of addiction and start to turn it around. This war isn’t being fought in some foreign land. It is right here. It is on our playgrounds and in our sanctuaries. It has already killed more people than any war we ever fought. You had better strap on the armor, my brothers and sisters because it is at your doorstep.” Lee Pioske
Lee is the Executive Director of Crossroads, Inc., a residential treatment center. Lee started working at Crossroads in June of 1998, while he was still a Crossroads client. He is a recovering co***ne addict (24 years clean and sober) and spent 5 ½ years in prison. Lee is an independently licensed substance abuse counselor. He has a master’s degree in Economics from the University of Minnesota and a master’s degree in Addiction Psychology from Capella University. Lee’s favorite thing about Crossroads is that the organization will help anyone who is willing to learn a new way of life.

“Trauma reactions can feel like a car stuck in fifth gear - you’re either off or going 100mph, with nothing in between. It is easy for the rest of us to misunderstand what looks like apathy and rage.”
