For those who plan to continue playing: keep active, stay focused and practice your skill during the off season. If able to find other outlets for leagues or camps, please consider and we will see you in the fall for the 2026-2027 season.
Good luck to our Seniors.

JVA Coach: Anastasia Preston
1. What is your background with playing basketball and coaching?
I have played basketball since 6th grade. Played 4 years Varsity in high school and got a full ride basketball scholarship to play in college. I had a couple concussions my high school years that severely impacted my ability to play so I only played 1 year in college. I started coach with the YMCA in 2017. I coached coed 5/6 & 7/8 graders until 2019. In 2022 I started coaching middle school 7/8th with West Wing. This will be my 5th year coaching at West Wing and my 3rd year coaching High school at Ridge.
2. What is your favorite part of practice/learning?
My favorite part of learning about the game is having my teams try new things and seeing it pay off on games. I am constantly looking up new drills or plays. I enjoy learning new things to apply to my teams to help us continually grow. I really try to get my girls to understand that mistakes are always going to happen and thatβs fine. I feel like I am constantly making mistakes as a coach as well. So we both are learning beside each other. I take losses as an opportunity to learn and grow.
3. What is your favorite part of the away games/bus rides?
Eavesdropping of the girls conversations because they make me laugh. I enjoy hearing the banter back and forth. It makes me happy knowing the girls enjoy being around each other.
4. Favorite restaurant/food?
Sushi or Chinese and I love French fries.
5. Fun fact?
I lived in China for a semester where I taught English at an elementary school. Once I came back I knew I wanted to be a teacher and got my Bachelors degree in teaching.
