Wardrobe boxes make packing clothes for storage less of a chore. To quickly empty your closets, leave clothes on their hangers, and suspend the hangers from the rod inside the box. Seal the box, label it, and you’re done.

Use traditional cardboard boxes if you’re putting items in storage in preparation for an upcoming move. Boxes are sturdy, stack well, require less space and weigh less than plastic containers, so many moving companies insist items be packed in boxes rather than bins.
