From a feral, sunburnt little thing who was unsure and scared of just about everything… to a stunning white pony being tacked at liberty at an event by a green rider. What a transformation for Remedy.

And honestly, I don't think it can be overstated just how BIG this is for him.

Over the last two weeks, Remedy spent four days camping and trail riding, came home for only four days, and then headed off to an event in Indiana for another four days. New places, new environments, new experiences, crowds, activity, and all the chaos that comes with being at an event—and he took it all in stride.

This is a pony who started out nervous, inexperienced, and unsure of the world around him. Yet he was able to walk into a completely new environment, settle in, and trust his training without needing to be lunged to get the sillies out or have a trainer ride him first.

That's what makes this so rewarding and satisfying. The goal was never to make him tolerate these things. The goal was to give him the confidence, understanding, and foundation to handle them and regulate himself.

He still needs a LOT more miles. He needs more confidence, more exposure, and plenty more time to grow into the horse he's capable of becoming. But the transformation we've seen already is incredible.

Remedy is proof of what patient, thoughtful training can do. And if this is where he's at now, just imagine where we go from here.

The sky is the limit for this little guy—and we're going to find out just what he can do.

Building confidence is such a critical part of education. Whether you're teaching students in a classroom, scouts, horses, dogs, or adults, you have to know how to build not only your own confidence, but the confidence of those you're entrusted to teach.

Remedy has come so far, especially over the last few months. I actually have to remind myself sometimes just how green he still is. While we have some big plans coming up, I think this little pony is going to do amazing things.

The rider pictured with him has also had a lot of confidence to build since coming here. She was used to broke, push-button horses that rode more like machines than horses. Here, she's learning to create her own exercises, solve her own "problems," and ride green horses. She's learning that not everything with horses is going to be smooth or simple—and that's okay.

Her confidence has blossomed as she's learned to trust herself, think through challenges, and take on horses that don't simply do everything for her.

That's really what education is about. Confidence doesn't come from always getting things right or having everything go smoothly. It comes from being given the tools, support, and opportunities to work through the hard things—and learning that you are capable of doing it.

Confidence and courage are two of the greatest driving forces behind success.

Why should your horse be comfortable with clippers everywhere? They’re just for grooming, right? Wrong!

Clippers can be a valuable tool in your first-aid kit, especially during the winter. Sometimes, clipping can improve comfort, as pictured. Other times, you may need to clip their ears to inspect for ticks, mites, or wounds, or clip their tail area to support skin health in horses with FWS or diarrhea.

Desensitizing your horse to clippers isn’t just about making grooming easier—it can make necessary care safer, easier, and more comfortable when you need it most.
