So.... this an announcement of my semi-retirement! I was really into hula hoop dancing for more than 12 years, but COVID not only shut down the wonderful hoop dance class I was attending taught by Sharon Sims đŸ˜” but also our South Bend hoop community! Since then I've hooped to live youtube classes and jams (thank you, !) and I've brought my travel hoops on camping trips but I miss my local in person hoop community.
So I contacted the coordinators of the Michigan Hoop Dance Retreat to donate my hoops, and they put me in touch with Kim Bell - a young flow artist in South Bend! She will be an instructor at the retreat, and is planning to sponsor local flow jams, including the Mind Body Spirit Festival on April 3rd at Potawatomi Park. She stopped by with her friend to pick up 20 of my handmade - and well loved - hoops! It was a sunny day so of course we hooped together for a bit in my front yard. She will use and share them at retreats and flow jams. I hope she will bring new energy to our local hula hoop and flow arts community.
