RACE RESULTS - August 21/22

8/21 - Miami County Raceway
Heat - 8 to 4
Feature - 7 to 11👎

Car was a little "off" all night. Lost the handle towards the last 5 laps with a loose car and dropped a few spots. After a good heat run and starting posiiton for the feature the finish was frustrating.

8/22 - US 24 Speedway - Carol Smith Memorial
Heat - 4 to 3
Feature - 8 to 4 👍

Huge thanks to Rodney Stealy for checking a few things over on the car. Simple things yield BIG impact. Solid runs overall in the heat and feature. Felt good passing cars in the front of the field. Also had to roll the bottom with no brakes towards the end of the race. Sometimes a little finesse yields solid speed as this week's SlateUp, Inc. clip of the weeks shares the last few laps of the feature run.

Taking this weekend off so dad and his friends can thoroughly enjoy a weekend of camping out at Kokomo Speedway for this years USAC Racing Smackdown Thursday - Saturday. Come see us, wont be hard to find!

No racing for the SlateUp, Inc. Concept Chassis Inc. #57 this weekend. Everyone rained out. Dad is blaming this rain mess on a particular resident of Milford, IN who referred to Jobu as a doll.

RACE UPDATE - July 31 | Miami County Raceway

We were fortunate that a few sprinkles never got worse and we got the program in with a solid run from 11 to 4th last Friday Night.

Heat - 8 to 7
Feature - 11 to 4

In hot laps and the heat race we scratched our heads a little bit as the car was really loading on the RR hard, which we haven't experienced up until the last few weekends. Didn't throw the kitchen sink at it, but definitely made a few more changes than we normally do anticipating a better car for the feature.

There must have not been a lot of passing in the heat races when a 8 to 7 run in your heat grids you 11th for the feature. As you can see in this week's SlateUp, Inc. clip of the week, the track was bottom dominant for the most part. Doesn't make for the most exciting race, but- it does provide a little bit of technical challenge and discipline in how you drive and set the car to roll through the corner. As much as I considered going to the top and trying to make up spots, looking ahead I didn't see much ground being made up there so I settled in a ran the best laps I could and steadliy moved up to a solid 4th place run.

We're going to take the upcoming weekend off to spend some time on the water as a family before I get ready to get back to school in a few weeks.

Race Results - Terry Sprague Memorial @ Southern Illinois Raceway | July 24/25

Another great time spent in Southern Illinois with our racing family. Days spent on the lake and nights spent slinging dirt is always a great time.

Heat race performance Friday and Saturday were not good. Two 7 to 9 runs buried the SlateUp, Inc. #57 Concept Chassis Inc. chassis in our qualifiers. Oddly... car felt good and lap times were on par as well. Just couldn't get going quick enough.

Friday's qualifier ended our night with a 13 to 9 run.

Saturday qualifier was a bright spot with some passing and a little luck due to attrition yielding a 14 to 6 run which placed us in the LCQ. To be one of the final 15 cars out of 75 non-qualifiers fighting for 3 transfer spots placed us against a strong field of cars for the LCQ.

In the LCQ we started 14th and methodically worked our way up to 8th before a last lap, last corner incident with multiple cars in front of us ended our night about 100 yards from a 7th place run, just couldn't avoid the incident after trying to drive through tangled cars.

I've had a lot on my mind lately and unfortunatley, didn't hit the track on Friday mentally prepared. My mind was elsewhere and it showed. Luckily, I'm surrounded by good people that will always be honest in providing feedback and motivation- and a crew chief (dad) that deals with it all pretty well. Looking forward to "getting after it" for two nights this weekend at Miami County and US 24!

Sarurday’s race report posted in silent video. When you race 40-50 nights a year you’ll have a bad night. After a podium finish last week the racing gods decided to sprinkle in some resilience testing. Let’s pass that test and get ready to rip again this weekend Friday at Miami County Raceway and Saturday at US 24 Speedway. Truth be told I put myself starting back where I shouldn’t be and dad gave me the silent treatment. That’s what bothers me the most, seeing how hard he works to unload a fast car and get nothing out of the evening…

I should probably thank Rodney Stealy at Concept Chassis Inc. and Sharp Advantage Safety Products, LLC for keeping me safe as I’ve been on my lid a few times the last week.

We’ll have the SlateUp, Inc. #57 ready to go. 💪

The week long festival of speed called Hoosier Dirt Cup wrapped up Saturday at US 24 Speedway Saturday night, ending 6 nights of racing in Indiana. After running outlaw Tuesday - Friday we ran A non-wing as we started the week on Saturday. We dodged rain multiple times and even had to restart the feature after 11 laps due to rain. Needless to say, the car and trailer were a mess.

Heat - 1 to 2nd
Feature - 6 to 3rd

It was a good end to a week of high temperatures and some late nights (some by choice 😉). Disappointed to miss two feature runs Tuesday and Friday due to car damage, but Rodney Stealy got it patched up. Looking forward to getting back to those tracks next year we don’t visit often.

When all was done, we ended the week with runs to 9th, 11th, 10th, and 3rd for our feature results.

Big thanks to the Concept Crew we traveled with throughout the week, you all made it a great time as always.

Got the SlateUp, Inc. Concept Chassis Inc. #57 cleaned up at home yesterday and back to the shop to prep for another 2 race weekend upcoming.

Ready for night 4 of 6 for the Hoosier Dirt Cup in the SlateUp, Inc. Concept Chassis Inc. #57. We rebounded well last night with an 11th place run after a 2nd place heat race finish.

Looking forward to more laps here at Rushville, IN fairgrounds.
