🙏💔 PLEASE HELP US 💔🙏
We discovered that the last antique steel light pole in front of Wick's Bicycle Shop was being taken down, SCRAPPED & NOT REPLACED.
NO LIGHT in front of a RETAIL SHOP where CHILDREN gather on an almost daily basis.
May I see the plans for that, who DECIDED & APPROVED that??
WHO reached out to our ??
NO Mayor or Trustee spoke to us about anything. We only discovered this “plan” when WE spoke to the ENGINEER about our damaged planters. He said they’d take care of it & they were removing the pole!
There are NO images on the Construction plans of our corner or the pole on the construction plans in Village Hall. No one told me power was cut off, would remain off & would be removed altogether.
I attended 2 Village Board meetings (8/3 & 8/17) WITH SKETCHES to ask AT THE VERY LEAST to just & let it be repurposed into a sign. Within those 2 weeks, no one from the Village Board or the Mayor spoke to me. The Village Board meeting on Monday, Aug. 17 was a complete shock💔. You can watch the dumpster fire for yourself https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=rFT0fEyEqc4&ra=m.
We appreciate Trustee Nowak & Trustee Morgan for your support, & Trustee Wiedl** (absent for vote) owner of Traxx Sports Bar & Grill for providing pizza at our last ride❤️.
No Representative for The Village was present for our final ride at the new park**💔.
All that we asked was to PLEASE . I (Christine) am a Trustee of the GP Historical Society. The pole matches the era of our building (1911) & our outdoor lights. The pole would make a BEAUTIFUL repurposed sign post that would help our business tremendously from the view of Rt 1. We would maintain the pole (paint & repair) just like we do the village trees & village grass all along the South side easement of our shop. (We restored the original large vents on the roof of our building, which can be seen from the alley looking south towards our building). As strange as it sounds, is part of Grant Park’s history. Just like our old building. Just like our old homestead.
We work really hard to make events FREE for families. We do weekly summer rides, we sponsor a baseball & a soccer team, Matt Coaches, we donate to every local cause that needs us & we work on children’s bikes that stop in & need help for FREE because
