November still had a little magic left today. With the whitetail rut winding down and the exhausted mature bucks tied up with the last few does it was a challenge pulling them off private and onto public where we could get to them. This morning we worked this buck for over an hour as he checked does in the midst of another mature buck who was actively breeding a hot doe. He finally gave up and came to our bleats and grunts only to discover the falsity behind them. Once he cleared the public/private boundary by a solid margin I waited for him to stop. He started to make a weak scrape and was focused on a licking branch when I put the ole Savage slug gun to work at 80 yards. He never saw it coming and after a 30-40 yard jaunt he hit the dirt for the last time. What a great morning with good buds in the freezing deer woods.

This takes Go Big Red to a whole new level!

Limited time in the field this year so far but mama made the most of it and put a smack down on this joker as he came out to check on some ladies. November magic is kicking off.
