Meet a Bellin Run Legend - Mike Dorsey! If you saw a previous post, you might know that Mike crossed the Bellin Run finish line on crutches. After many appointments and scans, Mike's doctors found that the cartilage in his knee was dying and would need surgery to regrow new cartilage. His surgery was a success; however, his recovery time overlapped with the 2008 Bellin Run date. Instead of giving up on his 31-year streak, Mike took action with help from his physical therapist to train appropriately while following post-surgery instructions. Mike got crafty to ensure he had enough cushion under his arms and around his chest to protect his sides from the crutches and began his new training two weeks ahead of race day. Race day came and Mike finished his 10K in under two hours! It was his slowest Bellin Run but he is still grateful to have done it. Mike's 32nd Bellin Run was his most physically challenging but it provided him with the best opportunity to grow stronger on the inside.

Say hello to a Bellin Run Legend - Casey John! Casey is grateful to the support he has received over the years from his wife, Renee (who has run 45 Bellin Runs!) In March 2025, Casey stayed in the ICU due to a cerebral hemorrhage - putting his Bellin Run streak in jeopardy. Renee, ever her husband's cheerleader, got him on his feet and moving while carefully watching his progress. With the support from his dear wife and their four children, Casey was able to get back to the Bellin Run course and secure his streak. Casey is looking forward to the 50th Bellin Run with Renee and his children by his side.
