π Weeknight Series: Race 12π
With the Sportsman championship already locked up, we decided there was no better way to close out the weeknight season at the Briggs & Stratton Motorplex at Road America than to throw Evan straight into the deep end.
At just 11 years old, Evan made his Briggs 206 JUNIOR debut, racing up with the 12β15 year-olds for the first time. Full-size kart with wide rear tires, lots of weight cuz our driver is scrawny, and MORE POWERπ³
but apparently he didnβt get the memo that he was supposed to ease into itβ¦
Final Practice: P2 - just .010 off the top
Heat 1: P1 π
Heat 2: P4
Feature: P3 π₯
Evan came out swinging in Heat 1, taking the WIN in his very first Junior race! Then for Heat 2, he started in the back and charged all the way through to P4 in just six laps.
That put him P3 on the grid for the feature, where he battled with the front group and settled in to bring it home P3 and onto the podium in his Junior debut!
The speed was there all night, too. Evan ran a 39.192 in the feature, right in the mix with the leaders.
Sportsman championship secured β

Not a bad way to close out the final weeknight race of the season at Road America π
Looks like Junior might suit him just fine ππ₯

π Weeknight Series: Race 11π
A little different start to race night for Evan tonight! He missed first practice because he had middle school orientationβ¦ but once he got to the Briggs & Stratton Motorplex at Road America, you certainly couldnβt tell
He jumped in for Final Practice and immediately went P1 with a 38.492, setting the tone for the night
π₯ Heat 1: P1, won by 1.278 seconds
π₯ Heat 2: P2, missed the win by just 0.030 seconds
π Feature: P1!
The feature made him earn it. Evan had a rough start and fell all the way back to 6th, but with only 10 laps to work with, he started picking them off one by one.
P6 β‘οΈ P1
Evan fought his way all the way back to the front and took the checkered flag by 0.292 seconds! π
Middle school orientation at the start of the night⦠standing on top of the podium by the end of it
Not a bad Tuesday for the #007 ππ
One more chance to catch some weeknight racing this season! The final Weeknight Series race is this Thursday at the Motorplex; come on out and watch the #007 battle it out one more time⦠we promise a surprise too

π Weekend Series: Race 5 π
Sometimes you can do almost everything right and racing still finds a way to humble you.
Evan had an absolute rocket in both classes today at the Briggs & Stratton Motorplex at Road America
ποΈ 206 Sportsman:
Evan went P2 in Heat 1 and P1 in Heat 2, setting up a battle that came all the way down to the stripe in the final; P2 by just .003 seconds. THREE THOUSANDTHS π€―π₯
π₯ MiniSwift:
Evan won BOTH heat races and carried that speed straight into the final. He jumped out front and built a 3+ second lead, looking well on his way to completing the sweep⦠until a right-front wheel bearing failed, ending his race and what looked like a sure victory.
The results definitely donβt tell the whole story today. Three heat wins, legitimate winning speed in both classes, and one kid who drove his butt off.
A P2, a mechanical DNF, and plenty of βwhat couldβve beenββ¦ but the speed was undeniable.
Thatβs racing sometimes π Weβll take the speed, learn from the heartbreak, and come back swinging πͺπ

π Route 66 Sprint Series π
Evan came into the fourth and final regional round at Road America with speed from the moment we unloaded. He topped the charts in both 206 Sportsman and Mini Swift practice, setting the tone for a huge weekend.
In 206 Sportsman, Evan qualified P2 (missing the pole by .205 seconds) and then went to work winning Heat 1, Heat 2, and the 18-lap Final. The top 5 kids were incredibly close in speed and were dicing it up every race, they really did put on a show that was great to watch! All 3 races were battles to the checkered flag, with Evan inevitably holding off Liam Fohr to take the win by just 0.198 seconds. π
Mini Swift was more of the same. Evan qualified on the pole, swept Heat 1 and Heat 2, putting himself in position for another shot at the top step. In the 18-lap Final, he delivered again, taking the checkered flag first completing the DOUBLE! ππ
Two classes.
Four heat race wins.
Two final wins.
A PERFECT 6-FOR-6 IN RACINGπ₯
And with that, Evan closes out the final Route 66 regional weekend standing on top of the podium in BOTH Sportsman and MiniSwift.
Huge thank you to Gary @ Lawson Speed Shop, Daniel & Alisa @ Woltjer Racing Engines, and the entire crew at Franklin Motorsports for giving Evan the rocket ship power and the best karts all weekend π π
What a weekend. What a way to finish the regional season
DOUBLE WINS @ ROAD AMERICA!
